"Luka!" Ladybug dashed towards the crumpled green hero not caring that she slipped up in front of Hawk Moth. "Chat Noir, keep an eye on Hawk Moth, I'll check how he is," She commanded, trying to keep the guilt from creeping into her voice.

She blocked out Chat Noir's answer as she dropped down next to Viperion, checking for any sign that he was hurt. His breathing was shallow and threads of sweat decorated his forehead. What had happened to him?

Hawk Moth and Luka had disappeared for at least ten minutes, leaving Ladybug distressed. Luckily, she had found a way to get herself out of the ropes binding her and Chat Noir without Mayura noticing. They didn't even bother fighting Mayura, they all had frozen in their places, waiting for what was next. 

She checked Luka's temperature, his head ice-cold and yet, he was sweating. "L-Luka? Can you hear me?" Ladybug slapped his cheek softly, hoping for an answer. All he did was groan, but he wouldn't wake.

"What did you do to him?!" She yelled, her face feeling like the sun's wrath. She glared at her most hated enemy who was strangely not making signs of standing up. Hawk Moth didn't seem to hear her, instead he was on his knees, shaking. "She was right there, just out of my reach. I failed-" He muttered, his eyes to the floor, looking defeated. 

Mayura knelt beside Hawk Moth, comforting him. She muttered words of comfort to him that Ladybug couldn't hear from where she was. The scene normally make her feel mercyful but Hawk Moth did something to Luka, she was sure of it. She needed answers and no one was giving them to her.

"Let me repeat myself, what have you done to him?" Ladybug pressed, trying to look confident but really, she was tearing down on the inside. Mayura glowered at her, "He didn't do anything to him, the boy did it to himself. He reversed the second chance."

How was that even possible? The miraculous couldn't be altered, Master Fu had told her himself. Ladybug frowned, sceptical of Mayura's answer. Chat Noir's eyes met hers and they nodded in agreement. Distract, then defeat.

"W-What happened? Where did they go? What is Hawk Moth babbling about? He-" 

"Quiet girl! Y-You have ruined my every chance to get back at her, you won't give in to my wrath won't you? I try everything and you still don't decide to take pity on me and my family. You irresponsible, heartless little brat!" Ladybug was shocked at Hawk Moth's outburst. Yes, he was evil and always scheming, but he never lost his cool like that.

No, she couldn't freeze. She had to distract, then defeat them. That was the plan, she couldn't let his words affect her, use what he said against him. Ladybug swallowed back a bitter taste in her mouth and looked into her enemie's eyes, trying to make herself look superior, even though she was only 15.

"What do you mean? All you've caused was suffering in this city of Paris, you don't care about the citizens of your home, only your wishes. You're willing to put everyone in danger to grant your wish for world domination or whatever? And you said we were the heartless ones. We're just doing our jobs protecting the city, from you." Ladybug looked over to Chat Noir who had a smirk on the side of his face, confirming that she did well.

But no, he said something that caught her off guard. "Right, if you really care about the city you're protecting, why don't you think about what I'm going after, huh? Why can't we negotiate, your miraculous or the city. If you really want to protect your family and friends, can't you find a way to make everyone happy? Including me?" Hawk Moth's eyes were hard but hints of pain were scattered across his gaze.

But, what would he want? What did he want so badly? She looked at the humane look in his eyes that he failed to shield and the gears in her mind started working. Maybe he didn't mean for anyone to get hurt? Maybe... his wish was innocent? No, she couldn't think like that. No matter the wish, the universe would go off balance, Master Fu told her that it could signal the end of the world.

What would Luka think? She looked back at the unconscious boy, a look of pain stretched across his face. He would want to protect his family, he would want safety for his sister, and his mother. Something in her head whispered that he would also want her to be safe, but now wasn't the time to dwell on that.

She knew what to do.

Ladybug slowly reached for her yoyo, "No, we can't let you get our miraculouses. You could put the world at stake, did you ever think about that? Did you ever think about what you could do to others?" She had her yoyo ready to attack, her eyes watching Hawk Moth carefully as he waved Mayura off and stood up.

"Yes, but my son's happiness is all I wish for. I just want him to be happy with her. I AM FIGHTING FOR OUR HAPPINESS, IS THAT TOO MUCH TO ASK?" Hawk Moth yelled, waves of emotion rolled off him, surprising her. His eyes looked wet but it could've been the trick of the light. Ladybug considered reaching out to him, helping him. But before she could, she saw the sheilds pop back up. His face transformed into a growl, suddenly looking hungry for their miraculous.

"Wait, you have a son?!?!?" Chat Noir exclaimed, bewildered. "Sucks for him,"

Ladybug swung her yoyo forward, hoping to wrap it around Hawk Moth. He knew what she was doing. He rolled out of the way, any signs of weakness gone. "You're making a mistake, really. You can't separate me from destiny." He lifted his cane up and ran towards her at full speed.

From the corner of her eyes, she saw Mayura take out her fan, one of her feathers ready to throw at Chat Noir. He held out his baton, swinging it as he ran towards her. She didn't see what happened next because she realised she had to get out of the way. 

Ladybug ran towards one of the legs of the structure and threw her yoyo. She felt a strong wind as she found herself flying around the leg in mid air and she tucked and rolled when she landed away from Hawk Moth. He snarled as they looked across to each other from each side.

He was going to advance but Ladybug could see Chat Noir running swiftly towards him, his hand outstreched, about to use his power on Hawk Moth's cane. She was going to pump her arms up in victory as she looked around to find Mayura on the ground, struggling to get up as her coat was stuck in a crack in the concrete.

But her smile quickly turned into a frown as she heard a voice that she had missed in the past 15 minutes, "What's happening?" 

No... no! She watched in horror, everything seemed to slow down. Hawk Moth looked towards her and gave her a scheming smirk. Chat Noir kept running towards him, unaware of what was happening. Hawk Moth met Chat Noir's eyes as he leapt up ready to destroy his cane. He remained calm as he watched Chat Noir's bloodthirsty expression. Hawk Moth stepped away at the last possible millisecond opening up on Luka. Chat Noir's eyes widened, knowing that he had really messed up.

Ladybug reached a hand out, but she couldn't do anything to prevent it. Chat Noir's hand was outstretched, grazing the bracelet on Luka's raised arm that was meant to shield his face. All hopes crushed, she screamed along with the thunderous boom that knocked her out with one last thought, Luka.
