Marinette glanced up to the clock in her classroom, 4:25, only 5 minutes to go till the end of class. She let out a sigh of exasperation as she tried to listen to Ms Mendeleiev. But her mind went elsewhere during her as her science teacher spoke about some sort of chemical theory, she wasn't sure.

Her eyes drooped and she felt her head tilt forward. She suppressed a yawn and her head snapped back up when she realised what she was doing. "Ugh, I'm so lame!" Marinette clenched her teeth and tried to keep her eyes open. She hadn't been sleeping well that week and Marinette didn't know why. Every night, she lay in bed wide awake with something tugging at the back of her mind.

A loud voice snapped her out of her thoughts, "Look! A supervillain! Over there!" Marinette saw Alix point over towards the window and the whole class was already over there trying to look.

Marinette clumsily got up and ran over to the window, her eyes darting around for a sign of a supervillain. But she couldn't see anything, all she saw were pigeons, cars and... A figure dashed past the window, casting shadows across the room.

They were too quick for Marinette to see them, but as she tried to look closer at the akumatised person dashing across the skies above, but she couldn't make out details, they were too blurred. A loud shriek distracted her, the noise left her ears ringing. She turned around to find Chloe screaming with fright, her bottom lip trembling. Marinette gasped as Chloe's leg started blackening with spreading up to her hips rapidly.

She opened her mouth to calm Chloe down but she was cut off by a cackle. Marinette whipped around to find someone hovering outside their classroom, floating in midair, glaring at the rich girl. An evil sneer spread along their face, "Chloe Bourgeois, no need to be scared! You should be celebrating, for now, you've joined the shadows!"

The hairs on Marinette's neck stood on end as she watched her bully fade away into the dark shadows. She couldn't get the horrible sight out of her mind. "Which one of you is next? I shall dip Paris in shadows and no one will stop me!" His shadow shifted and out of nowhere, tendrils started growing out of the shadows surrounding the classroom.

The supervillain flew away cackling as everyone started shrieking and trying to escape the creeping tendrils in fear of the same thing happening to them. "Come on, girl!" Alya's bright hair caught Marinette's eye. Alya pulled out her phone as she tugged on Marinette's arm pulling them both out of the classroom with their classmates on their tails.

As they stepped out onto the courtyard, Marinette's mouth dropped open. The other kids were all running around, trying to escape. But many failed and suffered under the wrath of the tendrils. Marinette had to do something, fast. She looked around for a way out while everyone was distracted.

She couldn't transform in the middle of the courtyard, the only place with sunlight. All the hidden corners were full of shadows, waiting to swallow her. She groaned with frustration as this was going to be a problem for her.

Tikki poked her head out of Marinette's bag and whispered, "Over there, Marinette!" She pointed across the chaos. Marinette looked over to where Tikki was pointing and silently thanked her. Marinette started running, she didn't stand out as everyone was doing the same.

She ran towards the entrance of the school and ran onto the street. She hid along the wall and looked around. The coast was clear. Marinette opened her handbag and Tikki flew out, ready to help Marinette.

"Tikki spots on!" Marinette shouted. She was glad to find herself in her ladybug outfit since it had been a while since she fought some akuma butt. Her celebration ended as she felt a tugging on her ankle. She looked down with dread to find one of the horrific tendrils wrapped around her leg.

She let out a shriek and tried to wrap her yoyo around it, but it had no solidity. Ladybug looked around for a way out when she found a streetlight on her right. She threw her yoyo around it and pulled, pulling herself away from the shadow's grasp.

Ladybug stood on top of the streetlight, observing her leg. It was blackened, all right. But luckily, it had stopped spreading. She looked around the scenery down below as she starting calculating in her head. So the ground wasn't safe, where shadows ran across. She sighed, some wings would be useful.

"Hey there, bugaboo." Ladybug looked up to find Chat Noir perched on his staff. "Looks like we're in a dark situation." He gave Ladybug a cocky smile. She rolled her eyes, "That was a horrible one, just help me out of here, will you?"

Chat Noir offered her his hand and they were now both high above the city. Ladybug sucked in a breath as she kept seeing citizens consumed by the shadows, with no way to help them. Her eyes darted around as she tried to find the person behind this.

"Over there!" She pointed to the news tower, where a slender figure stood. "But m'lady, don't you think we might need help for this?" Chat Noir gave Ladybug a look of concern. She pursed her lips, knowing he was right. She racked her brains for someone she could use help from.

She dug through the miracle box she had summoned now that she was the new guardian. Ladybug didn't have time to find a new superhero so she grabbed the horse miraculous, knowing that the teleportation power would be useful.

"I'll take that!" a voice shouted, she barely looked up when she felt a cold stillness on her hand. She let out a gasp when she realised the miraculous was gone, it seeped away into the blackness surrounding her hand. Her eyes widened in surprise and she looked up at the thief.

If only she could reverse that moment... Hawk Moth couldn't get his hands on another miraculous. That would be a disaster.

Ladybug swallowed knowing that she had to do it. She grabbed a miraculous out of the box and threw herself away from Chat Noir's grasp.

"M'lady!" He reached for her but the supervillain caught his hand, causing his hand to blacken.

Ladybug shouted out a warning to Chat Noir and luckily, he shook his arm away and started fighting the villain. She swung across the buildings, avoiding all the shadows she could see. She started calculating in her head, the miraculous had been stolen from her approximately a minute ago, which gave her time to find someone to use the miraculous in her hand, one that would change the time back 5 minutes.

She swung across the city, looking for someone, but the streets were deserted much to her disappointment. Ladybug gazed at the clock on top of her school. Sucking in a breath, she realised she had only two minutes.

"Hey! Ladybug! Over here!" She looked up to find a figure waving at her on the roof of a building. She smiled in triumph as she swung up to find herself face to face with a blue-haired guy. Her bluebell orbs met with his snake-like eyes, coated with teal. It was the same guy who had broken up with her a week ago.

"Do you need anything, Ladybug? You looked like you were looking for someone," Luka asked her. She tried to not show her embarrassment on her face, she felt like stuttering and trying to apologize to him. Ladybug gave herself a mental slap to snap her out of her ridiculous thoughts. He didn't know he was Marinette, she couldn't do anything to give away her secret identity.

Recomposing herself, she held out her palm with the snake miraculous sitting in it, "You know what to do, use your power and warn me that the supervillain-"

"Shadow Walker."

"Shadow Walker stole the horse miraculous, we can't let Hawk Moth get ahold of another miraculous!" Ladybug cleared her throat. "What do you say, Luka? Can I trust you to do that?" He grabbed hold of the miraculous and gave her a confident smile that completely tore her. Her eyes broke their gaze and she heard him say, "Yes, you can always count on me."
