Facing the Music - Lukanette (Miraculous fanfiction)

"Second chance!"

A flash of green light blinded Ladybug. She covered her face with her arms when she looked up, Luka had slid the snake forward, dragging her back to what happened 5 minutes ago. 

She held the horse miraculous in her hand, knowing it was the one she needed. Teleportation would be useful against shadows. Ladybug was going to tell Chat Noir her plan when she heard a voice shouting, "Watch out!" She whipped her head around to find a tentacle reaching for the miraculous.

Ladybug yanked her hand back, surprised at the sneak attack. She looked around for the voice but she couldn't see anything now they were surrounded in a ring of shadows in the air.  A shadow jumped forward towards her face, breaking the ring. She let out a yelp and pulled back on Chat Noir.

She had escaped its reach, but they wobbled around on the staff, having lost their balance. The staff gave way and Ladybug looked down to find the ground rushing towards her face rapidly, where the most shadows lurked. Well, this was going well. 

With a puff, she pushed her yoyo forward with her grip on Chat Noir. She faced the ground, flinching, expecting to feel pain. When they were a few metres above the ground, the yoyo stretched and caught them in mid-air. Before she could let out a sigh of relief, the stretch caused them to go flying up into the air.

Ladybug let a scream escape her throat as she looked around for something to possibly help them. But once again, they were heading for the ground. Ladybug clenched her teeth in frustration. She fumbled for her yoyo but she then felt a tug on her ankles. 

She let out an exclaim of surprise as something got ahold of their ankles and like a boomerang, they spun towards a figure in green. Who would that- They stopped spinning as they collapsed at the feet of Viperion. He gave her a kind smile and to stop from turning red like her suit, she had to remind herself that her feet were still entangled his lyre strings.

Her heart thundered against her chest as she assessed the situation ahead of her, Viperion was here. She must've gone to him in the future for some reason. Her hands broke out in a sweat, making her grip on her yoyo slippery. She was just nervous about the whole thing, nothing more. Ladybug controlled her breathing and let Viperion untangle her feet.

She and Chat Noir stood up once they were free, glad that they were okay. They had to defeat the supervillain, Ladybug frowned, but they couldn't touch him. She racked her brains for ideas but there simply wasn't time. "What now?" Chat Noir asked her. She opened her mouth to speak, but as she did, a shadow loomed over them, Shadowalker. 

"Stay away from the shadows!" She reminded them. But she heard a yelp as she realised that she had said it much too late. Ladybug did a backward flip to avoid the creeping blackness as she caught Chat Noir seep into the shadows. "Chat Noir!" She reached for him but he faded away before her eyes.

Well, that certainly wasn't useful to their current situation. She held back a curse and out of the corner of her eye, she saw that Viperion had gone to another building. He looked back catching her eye and his green eyes widened. Ladybug motioned for him to stay there and as she saw Shadowalker reach for the miraculous in her hand, she flung it to the next building, to Viperion.

"Unite your kwamis!" She yelled, hoping he had gotten her message. She knew he was capable of having two powers, he was strong. Ladybug faced her opponent, who was storming towards her, his hands outstretched. 

She allowed him to near her, waiting until he was a meter away from her. When he got there, she was able to glace at something shiny around his wrist, his watch. It had to be there. Satisfied, she ducked under his arms and before he could turn around she used her weapon. "Lucky charm!" she threw her yoyo into the air and a roll of bandages appeared in her hands.

Ladybug instantly knew what to do with it and she let out a whistle to alert Viperion who was waiting for her cue. She pointed to her wrist and with her finger, she drew a circle in the air. He understood, thankfully. She was face to face with Shadowalker once again, this time, he was more irritated. "You!" He held his hands in front of his as he brisked towards her.

She held the roll in her hand, ready. His hands were only centimetres from her face when leaned back and she quickly wrapped the bandages around his wrists, careful to not touch his skin. "What the-" Ladybug tied the bandages and rush to the side of him.

With a yank, he fell forwards with his hands outstretched. Ladybug had to keep both her hands on the roll as he could pull free of her grasp, it was difficult. She couldn't keep doing this for long. She didn't know if her eyes were playing tricks on her but it seemed to her that the shadows started closing in on them, trying to save their master.

A glowing blue circle appeared out of the air and she let out a sigh of relief as Viperion stepped out. He took the watch from Shadowalker and broke the face. They both watched the akuma fly into the air, trying to escape them.

She did what she always did. "No more evil-doing for you, little akuma." She snatched up the akuma from the air with her yoyo, "Gotcha!" 

Viperion let out a laugh when she released the akuma. She stared at him, "What are you laughing about?" she asked with annoyance creeping into her voice. "Oh, nothing. It's just... You look adorable when you do that. Hell, you look like a Disney princess." 

Her cheeks started burning and she faced the other way so that he couldn't see her face. What was happening to her? "Uh, thanks. But don't distract me, I need to set everything to normal!" She closed her eyes to try to control the temperature of her cheeks.

"Sorry, do your thing," He apologized.

She wished Chat Noir was as nice as Luka was. "Miraculous Ladybug!" She threw the roll of bandages into the air and a pink explosion appeared out of the sky, setting everything back to normal with its magic. Chat Noir appeared in front of them with a shocked look on his face and a boy appeared, crouched down on the floor in front of them.

"W-What happened?" He stuttered. Ladybug smiled, that was their cue. She held out her fist and they knew what to do, "Pound it!" they exclaimed in unison. She faced Chat Noir, "Could you please take this boy back to his home?"

"Sure, bugaboo,"

"I told you not to call me that!" She gave him a serious look. He smiled sheepishly and went off with the boy. "Here's the horse miraculous," Viperion took off his sunglasses and gave to her. Ladybug gave him a smile of gratitude and put the sunglasses back in the miracle box. 

He started handing her his snake miraculous but an idea stuck Ladybug's mind. "Keep it," The words spilled out of her mouth. As absurd as it sounded, she was the new guardian, she knew Luka had potential.

"No, I mean. It's you and Chat Noir, not you guys and Viperion!" His eyes widened.

"Luka, I'm sure. We'll make a great team." Ladybug closed his outstretched hand and pushed it back towards him. Her heart started thundering against her chest as she met his emerald eyes and searched her, unsure. 

He let out a sigh, "I won't disappoint you." Luka's eyes were full of sincerity.

Luka put back on his miraculous and gave her a small smile. He jumped off the building and left her alone with her thoughts. She knew she had done the right thing, she owed him something anyway.

Hopefully, Hawk Moth won't catch him.
