Chapter 13
The party was in full swing and was amazing! The frat and sorority shirts seems to have an effect on people, they took on their personas and felt more comfortable. I guess playing dress up was a good idea.
“M! Oh my gosh there you are! I’ve been looking for you.” Kisha called, making her way through the sweaty crowd with a red cup in each hand.
“Sorry K, there was a situation in the kitchen. Boys’ testosterone and frat parties still DO NOT mix well even after their teens.” I rolled my eyes and took a swig off one of Kisha’s red cups.
“Cheers to an awesome party!” we both downed the liquor down. “Let’s look for birthday boy. He should be around.”
We managed to make our way to the couches to where Taylor was and I sat beside him, grinning.
“Hey birthday boy. Enjoying the party?” I tilted my head to face him, still grinning. I noticed his eyes were glazed and he was grinning even wider than mine.
“Hell yeah! One hell of a party, M. Thank you.” He smiled genuinely and gave me a one-armed hug.
“Hey I helped plan the party too!” Kisha exclaimed, huffing beside me. Taylor got up and bent his head so that they were face to face.
“Thanks Kisha.” And with that he leant in and kissed her.
HE KISSED HER.
MY BESTFRIENDS ARE KISSING.
I got up and mumbled, “I need some air.” And got out of there as fast as I could. I made my way to the balcony and sat on one of the chairs, looking up at the night sky.
“You look comfortable.” I heard a smug voice and my head snapped to where it was coming from. Nikolai was leaning on the door’s frame with his arms crossed and looking smug. He looked breathtaking. The green button down shirt made his hazel eyes pop out and his jeans were well pressed. His cheeks were pink though, indicating that he was either drunk or tipsy.
“Mhmm.” Was all I could say while leaning back again and staring up at the night sky.
“Mind if I sit?” he gestured to the seat beside me. I waved my hand and he stretched on it, mimicking my position.
“Enjoying the party I presume?” I asked.
“Yes. Thanks for inviting me. Didn’t think you would.” He said honestly.
“You’re Taylor’s friend. It’s his party. I only did what he wanted.” I shrugged.
“I’m your friend too, right Mikaela?” I loved it when he said my full name. It just felt right. I smiled and let out a sigh.
“I’ll think about it.” I smirked and faced him. He was staring at me with a serious expression. I cleared my throat and looked back up. That was odd.
“You know, you look beautiful tonight.” He said, almost whispering. My eyes went wide and my heart’s pace picked up.
“You’re just drunk, Mr. Carver.” I stated.
“No I’m not. I’m sober. Watch.” He stood up and attempted to walk in a straight line. He failed, miserably. I burst out laughing and was sitting up trying to contain my laughter.
“There I did it. I walked in a straight line.” He said, puffing his chest out and tilting his chin up in victory.
“Yeah, if you consider a crooked line straight, buddy.” I rolled my eyes. He smirked and sat in front of me causing me to drop my legs to the side. We sat there just staring at each other, each with a smile on our face.
