Janelle POV
I sit with momma Payne, as she lays her head on me. I rub her back, she still holds my hand. She looks at me then off somewhere.
Momma P: I know he really loved you.
Me:*weakly* I loved him too.
She looks away and I look off to the picture of us when we were little kids, our first day out together at the zoo, next to it was his first track meet, that he got 1st place in (his second meet) I feel something burn in my stomach, I groan and clutch it, Momma P moving to look at me.
Momma P:You okay baby?
Me:Yeah... Yeah I think it's just that time of the month starting... I gotta go but I'll come over tomorrow okay?
Momma P:Alright baby, call me when you get home. I love you.
I turn around and hug her kissing her forehead.
Me:Love you too momma P. See you tomorrow, to help make funeral plans. Good night... Make sure you eat something okay?
Momma P:Alright. Good night.
Before I can open the door she speaks I turn around.
Momma P:To be honest with you? I can't afford to bury him.
I turn around and grab her shoulder, a Sad smile hanging poorly on my face.
Me:Yes we will, I have more than enough, I'll send it to you and you can make it up any way you want.
She frowns and shakes her head, another pain, I grab my side to conceal the pain.
Momma P:How? Khalil said you didn't work, he only said you fought.
Me:I do, it pays nice and since my parents cover my basic essentials and I only spend it on books and hair products I have a lot from the years I've been doing this. Let me help.
She looks at me then nods, I smile and walk out, I wait until she locks the door before walking down the hall. My stomach twisting again, I gasp and grab onto the wall taking deep breaths. What's wrong with me? I haven't had period cramps in years since I have my powers, and these are way more powerful than some stupid cramps.
Once I make it outside I start on my way home. I think of different reasons this could be happening, mourning? Nah, power overuse? Nah I haven't used my powers since.
Before I know it I'm back at home, I frown and look around, did I really walk all the way back home? I didn't even run or take the bus. I can't start doing that. I make it inside and go straight to my room I pull my clothes off and fall right into my bed, I see the book I had from Khalil's spot and pick it up, I only had 20 pages left. I fold the page instead of getting a bookmark, I get up and put it on the book shelf sideways. I get back in bed and right when I get comfortable that pain comes back, I curl up and hiss, breathing through my teeth.
Me:Damn it!
Next Day...
I hear someone knocking on the door and I ignore it. Soon I hear someone tampering with the lock and I swing it open Anissa sitting there with a Bobby pin. I raise an eyebrow as she looks at me in the air.
Anissa:Woah you can float?
Me:Why were you picking my lock?
Anissa:You wouldn't let me in.*shrugs* so I thought I'd let myself.
