Chapter 21 - The Date

Jacks POV*

"Have you got the food?" I asked Gemma.
"Nope, I'll need Luke to help me with it though so we'll do it later so it's nice and fresh." She said untangling some fairy lights.
"So me and Luke have to go set up the table and chairs and then come and get you to do the special touches?" I asked.
"Yeah, so that I can stay here and talk to Louise and keep her company otherwise she'll get suspicious.." Gemma said.
"Okay, sounds like a plan...thank you for all of this." I said smiling.
"Don't worry, what are friends for." She said walking in to the house.

Luke came out the house just after Gemma went in so we could go and get the table and chairs ready.

"Jaaaack! Are you ready?" Luke called as he walked towards me and the car.
"Yes, I think.." I said.
"Don't be nervous dude." He said resting his hand on my shoulder.
I gave him a reassuring smile. I would be fine, it was Louise..I knew her well.
Well I think I do...

We got to the car park that we had previously parked at the night before. We got the fold up table and chairs and fairy lights out of the boot of the car and walked in to the forest to where the clearing was.

"Do you want the table in the middle?" Luke asked.
"Yeah.." I said looking around the forest.
I didn't know how Gemma could make this place look like a place to have a date. It looked boring and dull.. I wasn't sure if Louise would like it.

I helped Luke set the table and chairs up in the middle of the bit of land.

"That looks okay.." Luke said trying to convince me.
I gave a unsure smile and sat down on one of the uncomfortable wooden chairs.

Luke sat down on the other and sighed.

"What's up?" I asked him.
"Nothing really, I'm just tired." He replied.
"Up late thinking about Gemma?" I said with a smirk on my face.
"Dude. No." He said.
"Alright, I was just joking.." I said laughing.
"But you do still like her don't you?" I asked.
"Yeah...she's all I think about." He said sighing again.
"Well tell her." I said.
"How can I do that?" He said confused.
"Just do it dude, there's a big chance she feels the same way." I said reassuring him.
"I don't know.." Luke said shaking his head.
"Look, I felt the same way about Louise. If I didn't tell her then none of this would've happened, we would still be pretending we hate each other and we all wouldn't be here together now. Just think about it, get her alone tonight and tell her.." I said.
"I might.." He said with a smile creeping on to his face.
"You better!" I said laughing.

I heard a loud buzzing sound. Luke got out his phone and picked it up.

"Hey Gemma" he said cheerfully in to the phone.
I nudged his shoulder and laughed.
He nudged me back and stood up so I couldn't annoy him.

"Yeah, we're finished doing the table and chairs. I'll come pick you up in 5." Luke said hanging up.

"Speak of the devil." I teased.
"Shh.. I need to go pick her up with all the rest of the stuff, she says Louise is getting ready and thinks she is going with Gemma to the movies tonight." He explained.
"Okay." I replied.

Luke's POV*

I drove back to my house to pick up Gemma.
When I got there she was standing in my driveway with a bunch of bags and boxes. Her face lit up when she saw me pull in to the driveway to pick her up which made me smile.

She opened the door to the back of the car and started loading the bags and boxes in.

"Do you need any help?" I asked.
"Nah, I'm good.." She said smiling.

Once she was done she got in to the passengers seat and buckled her seat belt.

"You have everything?" I asked.
"Yep." She said.
"Good.." I said as I turned the engine on.
