Whenever I would meet with Sarah outside, there was always an orderly hanging around a little ways off. Watching, keeping tabs.
It didn't matter at first, but... it made me nervous.
I wasn't doing anything wrong. Just talking to Sarah. Well, it was more me listening to her talk than anything, but still. Sarah was talking on about this new movie Studio Ghibli was working on. After that, she went silent for a bit, and then started to hum.
She sounded so pretty, it actually made me smile. She suddenly stopped humming, and I turned to see what was wrong. She was staring up at me, a little grin on her face. It was... so cute.
"Oh my gosh! That was the first time we've seen you smile!" She jeered.
I moved back a bit, taken aback by her blinding energy. I smiled again, just to see her get excited over me. She squealed and clapped her hands, and rolled around on the grass. While she rolled around, her shirt lifted up, but just the smallest bit. She had such beautiful pale skin. It looked so soft. Warm. Real.
I ripped away my stare. I looked up at the sky.
I felt a little guilty. Looking at her like that, and for a moment, wanting her. I shook my head. We're friends. That's how she sees me, and that how I should be seeing her. I looked away from the sky, my eyes searching for the orderly hanging around us, assigned to watch and monitor our behaviour. He was busy talking to another orderly, their conversation seemed engrossing.
I called out for Sarah to sit next to me. She giggled and sat down. I turned to her, wanting to say so much. But I couldn't. I didn't want to break the fragile bond we had. It was enough to keep both of us happy. I didn't want to monopolize that.
"How did you get that?" She asked. I snapped back to reality.
"What, my scar?"
She nodded.
I didn't even know myself. I didn't know what to tell her. I shook my head, "I don't remember." I said.
She looked sad again, and I inwardly smacked myself.
"I'm so sorry, are you okay? Did I upset you?" She shook head.
"No, you didn't do anything. It's just that, I wonder... what happened to you, you look so young and I feel as though you had so much potential in life. But somehow, you ended up here, in the crazy bin." She sighed, and I sat as silently as always. I felt like walking around with her, so I got up a bit reached out a hand to her. She grabbed it and pulled me down. I fell on top of her, and I could tell that every inch of me was aware and awake. I looked down to her with a shocked expression, and she was smiling up at me. I wanted to kiss her. Bad.
But when I heard the orderlies saying bye to each other, I quickly got up and sat down back where I was before. She sat down too, laughing hysterically.
"Man, the look on your face! I got you good, didn't I? Hahahaaa, your too easy to prank." She giggled.
"But seriously though, I meant what I said before." She said. I checked again to see if the orderly was paying attention. When he wasn't, I quickly tickled her sides, and she giggled. While tickling her, my fingers ended up touching her skin a bit, her shirt was moving around a lot. She gasped and blushed. From just fingers, it became hands that were at her sides. I marveled at the fact that she was so soft. I looked into her eyes, I really wanted to kiss her. She took a little breath and closed her eyes, waiting. Did she want me to kiss her? Should I?
I turned to check if the orderly was paying attention, but he was too busy on his phone. I took the chance and turned to her, my lips locking with hers. I moved my hands up and down, rubbing her sides. She let out a little moan and I quickly flicked my tongue into her mouth, the taste of apples and mint. She felt bold too, and stuck her tongue into my mouth, tasting me back. It was amazing, it felt like a thousand fireworks going off, heat and electricity hung in the air. I opened my eyes, checking again. The orderly was putting his phone away. I suddenly pulled away from her, removing my hands. She let out a little whimper, shifting her body, her arms together, making her breasts pop out more, looking longingly up at me. The want in me rose up again, but we couldn't. I signalled to the orderly, telling her that we had to stop, because of him.
She sighed and leaned against the tree. We sat there, silent.
"I'm sorry." I told her, as we both stared up at the sky. From the corner of my eye, I saw her smile.
"No, don't apologize. Besides, that was... well..." she blushed, looking down now, curling up and wrapping her arms around her legs, hiding her face. "That was my first kiss."
I smiled, feeling a little brave, and wanting to tease her, I asked,
"Did you like it?"
She gasped and fell over, stuttering and blushing. I laughed. She blushed even more.
"You laughed."
I stopped, "S- sorry..." I replied, but she smiled. "No, it was so cute! Laugh again! Pleeeaase!" She begged. I smiled at her and said,
"Nope. Not until you answer the question."
She pouted, and crossed her arms.
She mumbled an answer, saying "It felt so good. I didn't want it to end." She looked up at me, her eyes looking a bit heated. I almost wanted to just kiss her again, but I restrained myself. The orderly was there, paying attention once more, I couldn't do anything.
We sat there, in silence, until I spoke up again. Letting out a shaky laugh, I asked,
"Doesn't it bother you? I'm way older than you."
She shrugged, "You're only three years older than me, besides... I don't know... it's just that... you don't act like a grown up. You seem pretty normal to me." I laughed, it was ironic, me being normal. Look at us, were in a mental institute.
There's nothing normal about us.
The orderly walked over to us, saying that it was time to go back inside. He dropped off Sarah first, and then me.
My mind took a couple of seconds to connect something. Sarah.
I was shocked to realize, Sarah was in the room next to mine.
