I was shocked. The air went back to it's crushing attacks. 'No... that's impossible... how?! Why?!' I looked over at Sarah. Her face held so many emotions all at once. But the most prominent one was hurt. She was hurting. And I couldn't do a thing. Just like before, she was hurting again... and this time, it really was my fault. And there wasn't a thing I could do to change it.
"Chase." Said the blond, "He proposed to me two months ago before..." her voice trailed off and her face got a little dark. "An... accident happened that made him lose his memory." She carefully chose her words. I didn't understand how I could have ever loved this woman. And technically, if I did propose to her, she would be my fiance, not my wife. This... this isn't who I want to... to be with! I... I want Sarah. I love Sarah. And this, this superficial woman standing in front of me, claiming to be my fiance, is not who I love at all.
If I am Chase... then I renounce my past.
I don't want to be Chase anymore.
I looked back up to Sarah. She had a smile plastered on to her face.
"Th- that's great! Congratulations..." She glanced at me, "I hope you're happy."
She turned and walked out, an orderly that was waiting outside walked next her to take her back to her room. I wanted to go after her, to pull her back and hug her. But... the piercing gaze of the blond held me in place.
"Mr. Cowell, I'd like to take Chase out of here for a bit. Maybe take him out to eat and catch up. Is that alright?" She asked the shrink, batting her long, fake eyelashes.
"I don't see why not. Let me go check on Sarah, I'll get someone to bring you the papers soon."
The shrink got up and made his way out the door.
I didn't want to go anywhere with this woman. Couldn't I just break it off? Say 'I don't want to marry you anymore' and move on?
Was it that simple?
I got up from the chair and turned to her, I opened my mouth to say something, but she cut me off saying, "Why couldn't you just stay dead?" She asked, with a slight frown, glaring at me. I stared at her, face full of shock.
"What do you mean?" I asked. I wanted to know. What happened to Chase? To me?
She was the one who knew, but she didn't say a thing. She arched an eyebrow, a little smirk on her face.
"I'll tell you. All of it." She said, my eyes widened, "But we have to make a deal." She said, cold as ice.
I nodded. The moment I agreed and she grinned a dark grin, I knew, I just knew, somehow I had signed a contract with the devil.
