It's silent between the two girls for a while, but it was Sarada who broke the silence
"I'm really sorry Shiho" she says
"For what?" Shiho turns to look at Sarada
"I didn't think about how you'd feel, you know, about me. And I just barged in to your family gathering"
"Well I wasn't exactly pleasant to be around either" Shiho says
"It's okay, you were hurting"
"Yeah. My eyes hurt when I look at you" Shiho whispers
"That hurts" Sarada sighs sadly, hearing her
"No, no. I meant that in a literal sense"
"What do you mean?"
"Me and my older brothers came with our uncle to see our parents, then we overheard what your mother did to conceive you. Our eyes started hurting so badly. Apparently we awakened the Mangekyō Sharingan" Shiho answers
"Mangekyō Sharingan?"
"Well, according to daddy, it's an advanced form of the Sharingan that is activated when enduring a traumatic enough experience"
Sarada listens intently
"Daddy was violated by a trusted friend, and a child was formed from it. It was traumatizing for us" Shiho explains
"I see, I didn't know. I just kept on approaching you without considering your feelings. I'm really sorry"
"It's fine, I should've explained sooner"
"So what is the Sharingan?" Sarada asks
"Didn't you know? It's the Uchiha Clan's kekkei genkai"
"Does dad have it too?"
"Of course he does. You might even have it too"
"Really? That would be cool"
"Your mother didn't even tell you that?"
"No" Sarada shakes her head
The wind blows, making Shiho shiver. Sarada of course notices this
"Oh you're cold aren't you?"
"I'm fine" Shiho says as she hugs herself for warmth
"Wait right here" Sarada stands up and leaves
"Hey! Where are you going?"
"I'll be right back"
'Great, I'm all alone again. Wait, why do I even care that she left? I should be thrilled. No, I shouldn't lie to myself, I'm terrified of being alone'
Soon enough, Sarada comes back with a bunch of twigs and leaves
"What are those for?" Shiho asks
"For a campfire to keep us warm of course" Sarada says as she rubs the stucks together
Shiho takes note on Sarada's pained expression
'Her burnt hand must be hurting from the pressure'
"Give it to me, I'll do it" Shiho says
"No it's fine. I got this" Sarada smiles
"Why?" Shiho says in a whisper
"Huh?"
"Why do you insist on doing things like this for me?" Shiho asks
"Oh that... I just wanted you to like me and accept me as your sister" Sarada answers
