Merredith's POV
"Dallas!" I yell at the top of my lungs. "What the hell do you want?!" He asks, agitated I was distracting him from whatever he was doing.
"I'm headin to Pony's! See ya later!" I slip on my leather jacket and turn to him for a response. "Alright, that's fine with me. Just be back at 9! You know how Darry feels about Pony having people over at a late hour on a school night." I roll my eyes and nod. "Yeah, yeah right. See ya!" And I was out the door before he could comment on my "attitude".
As I walked past the part, I glanced over to see if anyone was around. Sure enough, there was a touchy couple on the bench a few feet away from me.
They looked about my age so I walked closer, (unnoticed) to see if I knew them. The girl I almost instantly recognized as Cherry Valance and the boy- HOLY SHIT PONYBOY?!
"PONYBOY MICHAEL CURTIS WHAT THE HELL?! ARE YOU CHEATING ON ME?!" As soon as I said the word my body began to rack with uncontrollable sobs. His head instantly shot up and once his eyes landed on me he jumped to his feet.
Pony's POV
I ran up to her and latched into her shoulders. "Mer, you gotta let me explain. IT WAS CHERRY!" I looked over to see her with a sly smirk on her face. Merredith looked over too. She immediately switched her expressions to shocked. "What are you talking about Pone? You said you wanted to kiss me!" She gasped and put her hand over her heart in mocked hurt.
"What the hell is the matter with you?! Couldn't y-you h-have a-at-least broke up with me first?!" Shit. Merredith is real hurt. "Mer, baby, I would never cheat on you! I love you!" She looks even more hurt. "You say that, but how the hell do you expect me to believe you now?!" Her voice comes out weak due to her tears.
"I-I don't know." I say quietly.
Merredith's POV
My heart is shattered. How can he not say anything?! And Cherry, she's just watching, staring me in the eye, silently threatening me to leave so they can pick up where they left off...
Cherry's POV
Of course Pony's slut had to come when I was finally getting what I wanted. I need to convince her Pony likes me so she'll leave. "Pony, please come here. I need your lips." I whine. He looks at me with mixed emotions then back to Merredith. "Do you love her?" She asks him, tears threatening to spill again.
Merredith's POV
There was a long painful silence as Ponyboy glances down at the ground. "I-I don't know, I mean I love you, but then there's Cherry and I ju-" "Choose one! You can't have us both!" I snap. He exchanges glances from me to Cherry repeatedly.
Wow. He's really thinking about this. I'm just gonna leave before he hurts me anym- "I choose Merredith." Cherry gasps in disbelief and my mouth forms an "o". "W-what did you say?" I asks. He stares into my blue eyes and tucks a strand of my red hair behind my ear in one swift, loving motion. "I want you, Merredith. I need you. You're the girl that's always on my mind. Everything you do is breathtaking to me. I couldn't live without."
"I love you too Ponyboy Curtis." and I attached my longing lips to his soft ones and sparks fly.
