Love can heal every wound

Kageyama's pov

Today is the day we will have a new teammate. I just hope they are not annoying, like someone I know.
"Kageyama, Kageyama. Wha..." How annoying. I hate it when he talks about other people.
"Shut up." I said harshly. It wasn't my intention. Whenever I try to sound gentle my voice betrays me.
"Boke, you didn't have to interrupt me." He said pouting. He is cute. Wait, what? I just said he is cute? I must have damaged my brain.
"Please don't scare him" I heard Suga-san mutter as a tall black-haired boy entered the room.
"I am Shou Hina. Please treat me well."
I felt Hinata tense next to me. As I looked at him, he was backing up, the look in his eyes expressing...fear? Does he know him? I saw Tsukishima ask Shouyo if he is ok. He flinched and faked a smile. Something is definitely wrong. As I secretly stared at him, I saw his face turning from fear into anger. He was deep on thoughts, so he didn't hear Suga tell him to introduce himself.
After 2 minutes, he came back to earth and slowly walked towards Shou. While Hinata's face was blank, the other boy had tears in his eyes. He looked completely shocked when Shouyo told him his name. After a staring contest between them, they finally shake their hands. Strange. I threw my eyes on the team. Everyone noticed the tension between the two of them, but no one said a word.
After that, he said that he moved back here after some family problems. I saw his glancing for a second at the orange-haired boy. He didn't do anything strange this time. I don't think they observed how everyone was looking at them with precaution. Even Noya and Tanaka were glancing silently at the two of them, which is a strange thing. They were super hyper about the new boy.
After the training, as we headed toward the changing room, I saw Shou whispering something in my boke's ear. My what? I shook my hair as I entered the room and left quickly, seeing that Shouyo wasn't ready yet.
Later that day

I was on the rooftop drinking my milk in silence. I didn't find Hinata so I was alone. As I was staring at the sky, I heard some people walking through the door.
"So what's the matter?" I recognized that voice. Daichi. I slowly looked at them. All the third year's were him, including Kyoko and Yachi. ( I won't write again the whole discussion) As I listened to the conversation I realized that something is odd. If he sounded so broken, why did he left? Why didn't he comforted him? I wanted to join them, but I heard the voice of Tsukishima. I listened as he told them about Hinata's reaction when he saw Shou. So I wasn't the only one who noticed. After they decided to watch Shouyo closely and left, I sat up, and, for the first time, I prayed my little crow will be ok.

During the match

After receiving the ball, I looked at Hinata who was quickly running towards the net. It wasn't our insane quick, so I spiked the ball easily and looked at him as he jumped. He seemed to fly in the air when, suddenly, he lost concentration and missed the ball. For a second I thought I saw fear in his eyes. What the hell?
After training was over, I went and asked him why did he miss the ball. He just said everyone makes mistakes and left. That was strange. Usually, he would have made me a baka and would jump on me. Just how much can someone change in a day?

Next day

While I was running after Hinata, I smiled. He was back to normal.
Suddenly, he started slowing down until he stopped. He was breathing heavily and looked really tired. As I was looking at him, I couldn't help but notice the black bags under his eyes and the pale color of his skin. It looked so...unhealthy. As I studied him more, I observed he was skinnier than usual. I bet he was underweight. Maybe malnutrition? Don't think so. After he assured me he was ok, even tho I didn't believe it, we walked slowly towards school.
When we reached the gates, he told me he had to go to the bathroom. I waited for him in front of the gym, but, when I saw he isn't coming, I went ahead and started to hit the ball on the wall. After some time, he entered looking sicker than before. He started passing the ball to me. Everything looked normal, except that Suga wasn't him. Everyone was questioning the why. Suddenly, he entered the room, saying sorry for being late. He looked like he saw a ghost. After he told us he went to the bathroom, I sensed Hinata tense. Why didn't they meet? It was strange.
We started the game. It was our ball. I glanced at Shouyo as he began running for our quick attack. After calculating I set the ball. Hinata jumped higher than usual and as I looked at him, I felt a deja-vu. He lost concentration and missed the ball. He touched the floor and looked lost. All the light from his eyes was gone and he started falling. I watched him before he could hit the floor. I started shouting his name. It was a terrifying sight. As the team ran next to us. I picked him up and started running towards the infirmary. I saw fear in everyone's eyes, but the look from Shou's stare was different. He had tears in his eyes and tried to catch up with me, shouting Shouyo's name constantly. He seemed...desperate. I quickly opened the door and placed the little boy on the bed. The nurse stabilized him and told us he fainted from malnutrition and fatigue. Sadly, I was right. Soon after that, he woke up and looked confused at us. The captain told us to go home and remained in the room with Suga. Strange. I changed myself and glanced at the infirmary. The third year's and Tsukishima were outside, except Suga. They looked like they were listening to the conversation between the co-captain and orange-haired player. I ignored it and walked home, hunger making me ignore everyone.
