It was the first day of Christmas vacation.

Lydia had just received an owl from Ron to meet her outside the castle, for it was snowing.

She bundled up her Slytherin scarf and walked outside. She looked around for any sign of red hair or a Gryffindor hat.

Then, splat! A giant snowball hit her in the stomach.

“Hey!” She looked around to see Ron’s head poking out from behind a bush.

“I’ll get you for that, Ronald!” She yelled and scooped up some snow in her hand, aimed carefully, and threw it. She heard an “Oi!” from behind the bush and quickly made more. She ran around the bush and pelted Ron with snowballs, but she got hit with quite a few of them herself.

They giggled and laughed and, by the end of the war, looked like giant snowballs themselves.

They, still chortling, walked into the dining hall covered in snow. Harry, Fred, and George were all sitting at one long table.

Lydia and Ron sat down next to Harry, their noses pink and still coated in snow and slush.

“Looks like you took the wrong end of the blow, Ronnie.” Said George, grinning.

Ron huffed and glared at the twins, who were now laughing.

“He beat me, actually. I just got rid of all the snow.” Lydia said.

Ron looked at her thankfully, but then Fred gasped.

“You’re supposed to go easy on the lady, Ron. You have no manners!” He took Lydia’s hand and bowed to her, then kissed it.

The twins, Harry, and Lydia all burst into laughter. Ron continued to glare at Fred who was still holding Lydia’s hand.

Fred let go of it quickly. “Don’t worry, Ronnie. I’m not stealing your future fiancée from you… Yet.”

“Yeah, Ron, don’t throw a hissy at us, what’s wrong with having some fun with a friend?” George said as he looped an arm around Lydia.

Ron just gritted his teeth and his ears burned bright red. Harry looked extremely pained, as he was trying not to laugh.

George saw Ron and immediately let go of Lydia. “I think he’s about to blow, Fred. We’d better hop.”

“Wait, George.” Fred said. He again took Lydia’s hand again, kissed it, and then said, “Goodbye, malady! I’ll see you another time, hopefully more private.” He winked, and then, with his twin, walked laughing from the dining hall.

By now, Lydia’s face was extremely red.

She looked over at Ron who was now shaking with anger. “My brothers are idiots...” He muttered.

Harry finally stopped trying to hold it all in and burst out laughing, which caused Lydia to giggle slightly and Ron to smile a little.

Lydia again took Ron’s hand across the table. “Don’t worry, I wouldn’t date either of your brothers. That would be extremely awkward…”

He nodded and blushed slightly.

Harry stopped laughing and looked at them. “Who knows, maybe Fred is right, you are Ron’s fiancée.”

They immediately let go of each other and refused to look at each other for the rest of breakfast. Still, they held hands underneath the table where Harry couldn’t see.
