It was the night of the Christmas feast.

Since so little people were staying, Dumbledore decided that they should all sit at the same table again.

There were giant Christmas trees all over the place and presents hiding for random students in the most unusual places.

There was also lots of mistletoe hanging in random doorways and you had to walk carefully so that you didn’t get caught underneath one. She had already gotten caught in it next to Ron and Fred (much to Ron’s disliking), but Harry was always able to pull them out of the trance that Professor Flitwick had put onto the green plant.

She sat down next to Ron, Harry, Fred, and George and stared at their empty plates.

“Where’s all the food?” Harry asked and they all shrugged.

They looked up at the high table where Dumbledore was sitting. “Mushroom soup,” he said, and immediately it appeared in front of him.

Fred and George looked at each other and tried to put some of the plates in their robe pockets, only to be glared at by Professor Snape who now had a gigantic elephant hat that Dumbledore had given to him from a party popper.

Other people at the table were shouting food names and soon they all had food on their plates (“Roasted salmon!” Lydia said).

After she had had seconds (thirds for the boys) of Christmas pudding, Dumbledore said it was time for them to get into their dormitories.

Lydia started walking towards the lonely Slytherin dormitory when Fred and George caught up to her. “Hello!” They said in unison, quietly. “It’s Christmas, why don’t you come see us for a while?”

Lydia couldn’t have been happier. She knew she was breaking a lot of Hogwarts rules, but not having her friend (also from Slytherin) Pansy Parkinson as her bunk mate, it had become quite lonely.

As soon as she stepped into the Gryffindor common room, through the tipsy Fat Lady (she had had too much to drink, she guessed), she envied the Gryffindor’s. It was scarlet and had a friendly atmosphere to it that the Slytherin’s didn’t have in their common room.

Ron and Harry looked up to see Lydia and ran over to her. “How did you get in?” They asked, amazed.

“Your brothers. They really do pay off.” Lydia said and Ron grinned. “Remind me to thank them later.” He said.

Soon, Fred, George, Harry, Ron, and Lydia were all in Ron and Harry’s dormitory opening up their Christmas presents. Somehow, Lydia's presents had been magically delivered to her. She suspected Dumbledore had known that she had gone there, but hadn't said anything.

They had each gotten a giant pack of Bertie Bott’s Every Flavored Beans from Hermione and the Chocolate Frogs from Draco were hopping everywhere.

“What do you think this one is?” George asked as he picked up a black and white specked one.

“I’ll try it.” Grinned Lydia.

George threw it to her and she caught it in her mouth.

She chewed, then gagged. “Pepper! It’s disgusting!” She quickly swallowed it, but the taste was still in her mouth.

“Oh, great, it’s blueberry!” Harry said, picking up a sky blue-colored jelly bean.

Before Ron could stop him, he put it in his mouth, then spat it at a Chocolate Frog that was passing by.

“Toothpaste!” Harry gasped.

Fred and George were chuckling. “We made the same mistake when we were your age, you little firsties.” Fred said.

“You’re only two years older than us.” Said Harry, confused.

They both shrugged and split a green one that turned out to be grass.

Eventually, (it was now around 3 o’clock in the morning) Lydia made her way down to her dormitory, the taste of pepper and Chocolate Frogs still in her mouth.

That was the most fun Christmas she'd had in a long time.
