Lydia pushed quietly through the crowded hallways. As she walked, people whispered ridiculous rumors about her. No matter what she did, people still found a way to twist it into something horrible. People went out of their way to personally make her life miserable.
She never understood what she'd done to deserve this. Sure, she wasn't perfect, but all she ever strived to do was to get out of people's way.
Attention was one of her least favorite things. She never seemed to get away from it though. Even if she did something as simple as breathing, all eyes Landed on her with judging glances.
Her one goal was to get outstanding grades so she could get a scholarship and ship herself as far away from there as physically possible. If she got away, no one would her story or the dark glimpses of her past.
The only place on the Earth that was worse than school, Candorfield High school, was her own house. Her mother was an alcoholic and wasted her money and time away on beer and such. Her mother, though, was all that's she had left.
Her father had died in a tragic plane crash before she ha even turned 6. Her mother would slur about how she was the worst mistake she's ever made, only to send her to her room afterwards.
Lydia didn't dare say a word. She would Not admit that she was not fine at all. She knew she needed help, but it was unthinkable to tell anyone. So she kept to herself as much as possible.
