Cadence
Elliot

CHAPTER TWENTY
_______________

"Seriously Elliot, where are you taking me?" Cadence asked irritatedly as Elliot held her hand, leading her down a busy sidewalk.

"Can you just keep your eyes closed?" He asked, looking back at her with a scolding expression, making her roll her eyes and close them again. He was leading her to where they planned to chill for lunch and plan more of their book in a different setting.

Cadence sighed and gripped his hand tighter as someone bumped her shoulder as they walked. "Have I mentioned how much I hate surprises?"

"Too many times. We're almost there." Elliot replied, readjusting his grip on her hand to lace their fingers and pull her faster.

"Slow down, Tigger, geez."

"Oh, Rabbit, you know I can't."

Cadence could just imagine the smirk he wore. She couldn't help but smile at the thought of it.

"Smartass."

Suddenly they stopped, without warning, causing Cadence to run into Elliot's side. He steadied her with his other hand and reached up to brush a strange of hair that found its way to her face. She blushed as he spoke.

"You can open up your eyes now."

And she did. First thing she saw was Elliot's hazel eyes staring at her, then the park. It was the first one she had actually been to, believe it or not. She hated the idea of other people watching her enjoy the outside, or just a large patch of grass surrounded by buildings. It seemed unnatural to her.

"Are you fucking kidding me, Austin?"

Elliot's laugh boomed next to her as he released her hand, wrapping his arm around her shoulders and forcing her to walk forward with him, into the park.

"Don't be such a negative Nancy, Rabbit." Elliot grinned and looked around at the people enjoying themselves. "We need some nature."

"Isn't the balcony you have good enough?"

"As much as I'd love to have more privacy with you, charming, I'm afraid a balcony can't do a park justice."

Cadence glanced at him. "You disgust me."

"And I'm in love with you." He smiled down at her and retracted his arm, ruffling her hair playfully and walked ahead of her. "Now keep up."

She internally groaned and followed him. They made their way to a near by patch of grass and Elliot plopped down, sitting and laying back, folding his hands over his stomach. Cadence laughed shortly and sat down next to him, crossing her legs and starting to pick at the grass next to her as she watched the people around her.

"I feel like we should include a park in the book."

"Yeah, we can." Cadence said, still looking around. "Maybe it could be Elane and June's thing? So it isn't all boys and love and ew. Get some best friend moments in there too."
