Cadence
Elliot

CHAPTER THIRTY-TWO
part two
_______________

The music got louder as the night went on. By this point, Cadence was dead drunk, and Elliot was on the brink of it. They both swayed or jumped, whatever dance to match the rhythm of the song playing. Eventually they took a break to get more drinks, but to avoid constantly screaming at one another, they kept their communication to dancing, hand signals, and lip wording. Or just none at all.

Cadence smiled brightly as she closed her eyes, tilting her head to the ceiling and laughing. She loved clubbing. The feeling of having no responsibilities and letting everything go to just be free of worries, she loved that. Reaching out, she grasped Elliot's hand who looked to her, still dancing with her to the music.

Elliot was to the point where he couldn't think straight, due to the alcohol, but he found it relaxing. Normally he would scold himself for being too personal with Cadence, and how inappropriate this situation might be for co-workers, but Cadence was more uptight than him. And she was the one who invited him. He twirled her with his hand, grinning and pulling her in so they could dance closer to one another.

The room was crowded, now that the music was getting more intimate, people started joining in. Bodies bumped into eachother, Elliot had to control his rising annoyance at how many people had bumped Cadence or himself. She didn't seem phased though, she came closer, making direct eye contact with him as she hooked her arms around his neck. She brought herself closer until her whole front was pushed right up against Elliot's.

Cadence watched as Elliot's eyes darkened, his grin shrinking to more of a sly smirk, but still there. His mischievous vibe still lingered on him, only tempting Cadence to misbehave more.

Swaying her hips to the beat of the song, Cadence smoothly turned herself around, grazing her hand over Elliot's chest as she brought her arms back. She backed up against him, her hips lining with his until she felt him behind her. Cadence smirked, closing her eyes again and continued to sway her body to the music.

Elliot hesitated, but only for a split second before reaching to grip Cadence's hip with his hands, holding her against him. His head dipped down to lean against the side of her head. Cadence tilted her head as she smiled more, turning her head towards Elliot's face, cupping the one side of his face with her hand to keep him close. As they grinded into eachother to match the music, Elliot's hand lifted to brush her hair away from the one side of her neck. His other hand sliding to her lower abdomen and applying pressure, which was followed by Cadence's hand, resting on top of his.

Dipping his head lower, Elliot tucked his face into the crook her Cadence's neck, grazing his nose and then lips against her skin. She blushed and shivered slightly, letting herself lean back into him fully, still keeping up with her movements, as was he.

Elliot softly and slowly kissed her neck, his hand gently brushing the spaghetti strap of her dress to the side, causing it to fall off her shoulder swiftly. He kissed to the edge of her shoulder from the edge of her jawline. Cadence gasped and bit her lip, only pushing herself back into him further. She felt him lightly bite at her sensitive neck, making her grip his hand on her abdomen.

Hearing Elliot groan lowly, even over the loud music, made Cadence turn around to face him quickly, caught up in the moment. His hand hugged her lower half to him, the other hand cradling the side of her neck, while her hands rested on his chest. His thumb gently caressed her jaw as they leaned both of their foreheads against one another, their eyes not breaking contact.

He was the first to tilt his head and slowly lean forward, his lips just barely grazing her parted ones. Cadence's eyes fluttered down to his mouth and then back up to his eyes, almost as if saying he could kiss her with her eye contact. Just before Elliot had the chance, someone grabbed Cadence's shoulder and whipped her around.

"Surprise!" Joseph shouted over the music. "It's time to go!"

Both caught in a daze, Elliot and Cadence blinked and then nodded. Joseph led them out, Cadence grabbing both Joseph's and Elliot's hands to be sure they didn't lose one another. Coming down from her drunken high, seeming to already sober up, though she was far from it, Cadence questioned herself.

What the hell was I thinking?

Little did she know, Elliot was doing the exact same thing.

Joseph, like the good friend he was, opened the door for them and tossed them both in the back seat, handing them old buckets before closing the door.

"Please don't throw up in my car." He said, buckling himself up in the driver's seat.

Elliot held the bucket loosely and glanced at Cadence who was already looking out the window, hiding her bright red face of embarrassment from him. He sighed and leaned back in his seat, tilting his head back while closing his eyes, feeling his headaches coming on already.

Joseph dropped Elliot off first, making sure he made it to the door alright, and then dropped Cadence off at her place. She wobbled up the stairs in her apartment building to the second floor. Everytime she closed her eyes to stop the dizziness, she saw Elliot's dark brown ones staring right back at her.

"God damnit." She cussed under her breath as she sloppily unlocked her apartment door to be greeted by Cleo. Not even making it to her bed, she crashed on the couch with the bucket Joseph gave her resting on the floor beside her. Elliot's eyes and the feeling of his lips on her neck was the last thing on her mind as she drifted off to sleep.
