Chapter 13

The house was quiet. It was 3 am and everyone was in their rooms editing. I snuck upstairs and into one of the living rooms. I snuck onto the balcony, smiling as I saw someone already laying on the roof. I quietly walked over, sitting down next to him. He smiled softly, never taking his eyes off the sky and I never took my eyes off him.

"Can I tell you something?" I smiled as he smiled, glancing over at me.

"Ya, what's up?" He smiled, sitting up. He pulled his knees up, hugging them close to his chest as he looked into y eyes.

"If I tell you this, do you promise to never tell anyone?" I gulped, his smile fading as he nodded softly.

"Of course," his face became serious. I let out a soft sigh, looking out at the view.

"Do you remember when you asked what my biggest regret in life was?"  I said softly, nervously picking my thumbs.

"Yeah, you said it was letting one incident ruin your life," he said softly. I could feel his eyes on me.

"That isn't my biggest regret in life. I've been thinking about this a lot lately, with trying to get back to my normal life," I gulped, looking down at my hands that sat in my lap. "It was my fault me dad went into the rocks," I said softly as Bryce quickly wrapped his arm around me, pulling me into his side, leaning his head against mine as I leaned it against his shoulder. "He told me that we should head in and I insisted that we stay out there," I gulped, sniffling softly as he just rubbed my arm. "If I had just listened to him he'd still be here,"

"You can't blame yourself," Bryce said softly, kissing the top of my head.

"I also regret ever stopping surfing," I gulped. "It's something else I've really been thinking about. I let myself wither away to nothing," I looked up at Bryce, his eyes should concern and understanding as he looked into my eyes, pushing my hair out of my face.

"But look at how far you're coming along," he smiled softly as I laughed, nodding my head before looking down at my hands.

"Bryce, I really like you. I don't know what it is, but there's something about you that makes me feel normal again," I gulped.

"But?" He said softly as I cleared my throat, looking up at him

"But, I need to be honest with you," I mumbled as he looked at me strangely. "This me, this isn't the me I'm going to be when I start surfing again, I promise. I promise I'm not usually this scared or timid. I promise I'm not usually this depressed and unsocial. I promise I'm not this bland or-" I was cut off by Bryce's lips on mine. I just sat there for a second, trying to register what was happening before kissing him back, my fingers running through his hair. I pulled back, smiling softly as I just looked at him, laughing softly. "What was that for?" I smiled as Bryce just smirked, shrugging softly.

"I was getting tired of hearing you rip yourself apart. List, it doesn't matter about who you are on the outside or if that person changes. Everyone can tell you're a genuine and real person, and that's all that matters," Bryce smiled softly making me blush.

"Thank you, for everything," I smiled, looking into his bright eyes.

"No, thank you," Bryce chuckled before leaning in, kissing me again.
