No one would forget. No one could forget. No one should forget.
Iris never forgot the motherly love she felt the day her little girls were born. When the tiny hands she was holding wiggled a bit and the two pink, wet little newborns finally stopped crying.
Swaddling them, changing diapers, breastfeeding, and holding them made her life brighten. Watching them get older pained Iris's heart heavily. Not as much as at the wedding though, where she lost both of them right in front of her. No form of drug or alcohol in the world could help ease her.
Jeff never forgot his wife, despite any and all short-comings. The way something went missing. Day by day, only bits and pieces of the beautiful woman returned. He never knew if she'd be the same way.
However, he didn't care. He loved her as much as when they met. While the number of hours he stayed out on his sprees increased until the number seven, he was always there to tuck her in and see her in the morning. It was a promise he made to himself.
Liu never forgot how he got his name. The death of the man who brought life to his sister's. He never would say it out loud, but the two of them were two of the most important people in his life. Despite one being gone now, he was eternally grateful to his uncle, despite never meeting him.
Some times, he'll talk to the grave of the man and wonder what kind of person he was. Every time, he'd bring a gift. Flowers, chocolates, or anything else he thought he might like.
He was drawn to the grave. Every time he went to visit it, he found himself tracing the words carved in by his father with his pointer finger or thumb.
When he turned fifteen, he met a mortal girl he fell absolutely in love with, and married at twenty three. They had one daughter, named Opal.
BEN and Grim never forgot each other. Grim never felt comfortable being around Iris, being that he knew a part of BEN would always love her. It was a mixture of paranoia and insecurity that most of us know as envy.
BEN absolutely adored Grim, however. Finally, he had someone in his life permanently, wish he'd been wanting for a long time. Iris was not the end of him, though a part of her was always beside him in some way, shape, or form.
The two of them proceeded to have four kids; three girls and one boy. Everyone of them were raised very well by Grim and BEN, who were loving and affectionate parents.
Luna never forgot what Toby told her. Day by day, she grows stronger and closer to the people around her. The wall she hides behind is being taken down, but brick by brick rather than knocking it all down at once.
The cryptic message all came together on her best friends wedding day. Down to the death of the girl she loved, and the survival of her best friend.
She never fell in love again, but did become more social and make more friends to keep herself busy during the day. At night, she felt lonely, wanting nothing more to tell Opal she loved her, then pretend to go to sleep so she would say she loved her too.
Zalgo would never forget the fear he felt when his wife laid, almost lifeless right in front of him. It took every thing in him to just breathe while knowing he was about to lose yet another girl he loved. Now that Jazz was immortal, he really didn't have much to worry about when it came right down to it.
Worse case scenario, he goes without her for a year. The original fear that was there was gone now. His loyal queen was the most beautiful thing he had ever owned (though she would argue that he did not "own" her, and that if he wanted to keep his wife, he wouldn't be such a pretentious asswipe).
Jazz, as she found out later, was unable to produce a child, so they adopted a human girl and brought her down, taking the immortality given to one demon or another (honestly, he couldn't care less) and gave it to her.
Jazz would not forget the apology. On nights when she found she could not settle her uneasy stomach filled with anxiety and worry, she'd walk outside and "talk" to Opal. A part of her knew that somewhere inside of her, her sister laid in an undisturbed sleep.
While having no real way to awake her, she felt her as part of her daily life. Whenever she shut her eyes, she could see life leaving her sister's eyes as she whispered her apology.
What happened in the past, was just that. In the past. It didn't matter, now. She had grown used to the way she looked, with her pale skin and ashy hair. And Zalgo found it sexy, so there wasn't a real issue with it.
Her twin was not a very good sister up until right around the end, but Jazz still regretted fully the treatment of her twin around the end of her life. The last few interactions she had with her sister would haunt her memories until the end of time.
On her twenty-fifth birthday, Zalgo bought her a gorgeous heart shaped locket made of pure silver. On the inside, one photo of him on the write, one photo of their daughter on the left. Although gorgeous, kind of bland as a gift, seeing as the kind person Zalgo was, it wasn't very extravagant or meaningful.
Until she recognized the gemstone on the front of it, lovingly handcrafted into a heart.
An opal.
