Jazz's P.O V.
I stared at the pregnancy tester as my mom picked it up. "Are you going to use it, Mom?" I asked. She nodded, standing up and leaving to the restroom with a cup. I sat at the table, playing with my hands. Opal and Daddy were next to me, also waiting for the answer.
After a few minutes of pointlessly sitting there, I got up. Sitting there was boring. I walked to the bathroom, opening to see my mom stare at the tester.
"What is it, Mommy?" I asked. She slowly showed me the tester, shaking a bit. There was a big plus sign on it. What did that mean? I looked at the box that she had taken it out of. Minus meant no baby. Plus meant pregnant. Putting the box down, I hugged my mother.
"Mommy, you're gonna have a baby." She still stood stone still. "Yes. I am." She smiled a small smile. "That means you're going to be a big sister. So is Opal." I laughed a bit. "And Daddy and you are going to have another person to take care of." She nodded, stroking her stomach.
"It was shocking at first, but I'm happy. I really am. I'm going to go tell your daddy. Come on." I was excited. When we got there, Daddy looked at us eagerly. My mom nodded quietly, which was enough to tell him. "Alright. We raised two kids past baby hood at the same time. I think we can handle this."
Mom and Daddy began to clean a room out. It was empty, and they decided it would be best. Opal and I would never get our own rooms. Pity.
My mom went to the attic and pulled out box. Inside that box were the piece of a crib. I watched them begin to put together a crib. Daddy kept cursing. "Shit! Hit my fucking thumb!" My mom laughed a bit. "Come on, quit being a pussy!" Daddy glared at her for a minute before forming a small smile. "Whatever."
They spent the rest of the day trying to make the crib. Daddy hit his thumb at least nine more times. We laughed every single time. My mom looked up at him when they were done and as they put in the last nail and asked him, "So do you want a boy or girl?" Daddy thought for a minute. "I don't care. They'll be my kid either way. At least... They better be..." Mommy sighed and shook her head. "Jeff, I never even kissed him. And that was before we were even together.
Mommy looked at her stomach again. "I want a little boy this time." Daddy smiled and kissed her stomach. Opal looked at me with a sad face. "Great, now we're gonna have a little sibling." I put my hand on her shoulder. "Who knows. Maybe this will be a good thing. What's wrong with being older sisters?
