Opal's P.O.V.
I sat beside BEN on his couch. He was being very quiet, as he'd always been. This time was different, though. Se started to seem even more solemn (if that's possible). I tried to start conversation.
"BEN, have you ever had a girlfriend?" His head turned to me, tears in his eyes.
"Yes, two. I've loved two women." he sniffed.
"Both left me for my best friends. One's alive now, one isn't." He wiped his eyes and forced a smile.
"But that doesn't matter. Not anymore." He smiled at me and put his hand gently on my shoulder, awkwardly patting me.
"What bitches..." I muttered.
"Don't say that." His voice was stern. Why did he care if I swore? My parents didn't give a shit, and I'd done it before around him. Was he defending the girls? Why would I defend those whores who hurt him like they did?
They're the reason BEN's like this. He's nearly a recluse, and I hate that. I hate the fact that he doesn't want to leave his house that much because two girls cheated on him.
"Don't worry about me, Opal. Please don't..." He forced a smile. "I don't mind. I stopped being jealous about one of them a long time ago because of someone else."
I gasped, smiling. He loved someone else?! Aww..
"You love someone else?!" I asked.
"Yes. Well, only just recently have I began to." he gave me a small smile.
"Come on, BEN! I'm sixteen now! Practically an adult, right? Tell me!" He chuckled and shook his head.
"I don't really think I could, Opal. Maybe give it some time, and then I'll tell you." I pouted, crossing my arms and scooting away from him jokingly.
"Hey... Don't be like that..." I play punched his arm.
"I'm kidding, BEN." He looked at me.
The look turned to a stare in awkward silence. His eyes glanced at my face and my shoulders. I prepared my fist to punch him if he stared for too long.
"You look... Like an adult now... Like your mother..." He broke his stare with a chuckle before he stood.
"So your parents will probably want you home soon." he sighed, standing.
"Yeah, I guess..." I rubbed the back of my neck. "Liu is at a baseball game, and Jazz is at Zalgo's place, wherever that is. So it's just my parents." I stood.
"I'll walk you there. It wouldn't be safe." I giggled at him.
"There's no one else here, dummy. No one would hurt me. And if they did, have you seen my dad? He's a fucking brick wall. I think I'd be fine." He shook his head,
"No. I'm taking you there, just to be safe. The last thing I need on my mind is worrying about you. Come on." He opened the door for me and held it.
"Thanks." We walked a little ways until BEN stubbed his toe on a bit of torn up rubble.
"Oh shi-" He stopped himself before he finished the word. Aww, he didn't want to curse in front of a woman! That's so cute! I just wanted to pinch his cheeks (even though he's way older than me).
When we got to my house, I opened the front door. "Come on in." I invited BEN.
Of course, the first thing I had to hear when I stepped in was "Oooh Jeff~" and see my Dad and Mom going at it like rabbits on the couch, their waists down covered by blankets.
BEN didn't know how to respond, other than by clenching his fists and looking away.
When my mom saw us, she shrieked. My dad quickly covered her boobs with his arms.
"W-we didn't think you'd be back yet." sighed my dad.
"Get the fuck out!" a shrilled my mother.
"Aw, gross, I sit on that couch!" BEN grabbed me by the arm and dragged me out.
"Just let them finish..." he mumbled, dragging me away.
