I woke up the next day to the same smiling face that I saw yesterday. However, I did not return the smile. I just couldn't, because of me, my family has been through so much pain and I couldn't bare to give them anymore.
"Hey Jen, how do you feel?" Andrew asked with concern dripping from his voice. I just shrugged not wanting to talk... ever. I'm pretty sure he got the idea because he got up and left.
Boy was I wrong, he came in with a big tray of food. I looked in it and saw it had runny eggs and burnt toast with yogurt. It looked so good, and I just wanted to take the whole thing and eat it. Then a thought occurred, my mother would never be able to eat so why should I? I turned away not facing Andrew anymore and sighed heavily.
"Come on Jennifer, you need to eat. You're going home today!" I scoffed. As if that made anything better. I would be coming home to a house without a mom, and that was my entire fault. A pair of footsteps came in and I turned slightly to see Dr. Par.
"Good morning Ms. Nealson. It is my honor to discharge you from the hospital." He said smiling. I nodded and got up and changed. Apparently someone had bought me clothes and gave them to me while I was sleeping. The jeans fit me perfectly and I then noticed how my body really did change over the six years. Before I exited the bathroom, I heard my father talking to the doctor.
"She stopped talking, why?" My father said.
"Richard, she has been through so much, just give her some space." The doctor replied. Footsteps shuffled and stopped.
"What about relocating her to mental rehab?" I gasped. How could my father do this? Am I that big of a burden? I walked out and gave a small nod acknowledging that they were there. "Hey, Sweetheart, the doctor and I were just talking about school. When do you feel up to going?" I was now in eighth grade and I had no knowledge of what the world was like. I had been robbed of my childhood and I was mad. I shrugged and got my back walking out.
The drive home was quiet but not awkwardly. Once home I went straight upstairs to my room to find it exactly how I had left it. The only difference was the bed; it was bigger.
"We can change that when you want." My dad's voice said breaking my thoughts. I nodded and looked at him.
"Tomorrow," was all I said. Thankfully he seemed to get that I wanted to go to school tomorrow.
"Um, I didn't really know what to get you for clothing so my girlfriend bought you a whole lot of stuff and it's in the closet. You'll meet Cindy at dinner. Until then you can do whatever you want." And with that he left me alone.
The closet was filled with different colors and fabrics. I picked out a grey t-shirt and a two-piece jacket.
I heard the doorbell ring and went down to answer it. When the door opened there stood a beautiful girl smiling at me.
"Hello, Dear, you must be Jennifer, I'm Cindy Walsh." We shook hands and I let her in. This was going to be a long night.
A/N: Hey everyone! So I added a cast now. What do you guys think??
