It wasn't working at all! He still wasn't breathing! I tried one more time and finally he coughed up some water.

"Oh my gosh, Brody!" I cried and hugged him. He groaned in pain and I released. He looked at me and weakly smiled before passing out. I grabbed my phone and dialed 9-1-1.

        "Hello, 9-1-1 what's your emergency?"

"Hi, yes, my friend is unconscious because he drowned."

        "Is he breathing ma'am?"

"Yes, but not that much, please help him."

"An ambulance is on its way ma'am. Keep calm and have a nice day." With that the line went dead and I went back to Brody. He looked so lifeless it hurt. A couple of minutes went by and sirens started approaching.

Everything was a blur until he was in his hospital bed breathing and resting. I held his hand and silently prayed.

Hours passed and everyone who was there went home except Andrew and me. It was about nine o'clock at night and Andrew was about to go home.

"Ready to go, Jen?" I shook my head and held his hand tighter.

"I'll call my dad if I want to go home, you go and get some rest."

"Are you sure?" He asked and came closer to me. I nodded and looked straight at Brody who was peacefully sleeping. Andrew bent down and kissed my cheek and left.

Around twelve I prayed again. This time it was for him to wake up and not be in a coma. The doctor said it was a possibility and I couldn't bear to think he would be in a coma.

"Please, Lord, I know he doesn't know you, but please let him live." I gripped his hand harder and closed my eyes.

Waking up, I felt my hand being squeezed. My eyes shot open and looked at Brody. His eyes squinted as if trying to open.

"Oh my gosh, Brody!" I sighed with relief. He looked at me and coughed. Now I was sobbing and I couldn't stop the tears from flowing. "Don't ever do that again, you weren't breathing! You scared me so much!" His hand went up to my cheek and wiped the tears.

"Shh, it's all right. I'm fine, and I'll try not to do that again." Just then the doctor came in. I silently chuckled because the doctor was the same doctor I had.

"It seems our patient didn't slip into a coma. Thank the heavens because it would look really bad having two patients in a coma." He winked at me and proceeded to Brody. "Well young man, you should be very thankful to this young lady, she saved your life." Doctor Par said and took off his oxygen mask. Brody looked at me and back at the doctor.

"H-how did she do that doctor?"

"Well, she was quick enough to jump into the pool and grab you before your lungs could take in more water. Then she knew cpr and she preformed it flawlessly. After you became unconscious she called the hospital. She is a very brilliant lady, and I believe she is a keeper." My eyes widened at the last part.

"We aren't together, doctor Par." I said with a chuckle and I could feel heat rise to my cheeks. The doctor only nodded and continued Checking Brody. "Well everything is normal except for his legs." The doctor said with dismay. He turned to Brody and cleared his throat. "Son, you were without oxygen for so long that it damaged your brain. You can stand but walking will be a much more difficult task. You will need to do physical therapy for an amount of time in order to regain the strength." I looked at the doctor with newfound tears forming.
