"You have to!" I yelled into the phone.

"No I don't and you can't make me!" The person yelled back.

"You are being such a stubborn wuss. You know that right?"

"Yeah, but everyone knows that I almost drowned. I can barley walk with crutches after two weeks of therapy." Brody stated. I sighed and weakly smiled at his excuse.

"You do realize that for two months of therapy that isn't professional you are doing amazing. People will be excited that you can walk again."

"Well you do realize that everyone couldn't care less if I was dead?"

"Don't say that! I would care, and you are going I high school whether you like it or not. Our schedules are almost the same except electives. You have p.e and I have volleyball. Remember that people know about my scars so you aren't the only one who they'll be talking about." Silence came from the other line and I thought he hung up until I heard a groan.

"You're lucky you're my friend." At that I couldn't help but smile.

"Yes! Thank you Brody." He laughed and told me yeah.

We hung up a couple minutes later and I went downstairs. "Night dad, I wanna be up and early so you can drive me to Brody's."

"I don't like that kid, he seems like a punk." I couldn't contain my laughter as hard as I tried.

"Don't worry daddy, he's fine." He grunted and turned toward me.

"Night, sweetheart."

I woke up to the sound of my alarm clock ringing. Getting out of bed I did all of the normal routine when I realized I had to pick Brody up early. I ran downstairs and practically threw myself at the fridge. Grabbing a yogurt I quickly packed my bags and headed for the door.

"Dad! I'm in the car!" I yelled with my full of yogurt. Not five seconds later he came into the room with his car keys and grumbling about taking me and some punk to school.

Once we got to the front door I walked up and rang the bell.

"Hey, Jennifer." Nick, Brody's oldest brother said. He turned back and yelled for Brody. Slowly surly, Brody hobbled toward the door with his backpack in toll. I know I shouldn't have but I flat out laughed at the sight. That deserved a glare from him and I deserved it.

"Here let me help." I said and took the backpack off his shoulders. "Come on my dad is waiting." We walked together back to the car and climbed in. Dad turned on the radio and Justin Beiber came on. Brody and I laughed while singing on the top of our lungs to his 'Never Let You Go." Once we got to the new campus, I suddenly got nervous. Brody seemed to notice and he patted my back.

"You'll do amazing." And with that we left the car and into the school. The minute we walked in all eyes were on us. Mostly because we were all people talked about after Brody's accident and because we were freshmen. Both of us walked to our lockers which was surprisingly not too far away.

Punching in my combination Brody cleared his throat.

"So, Um, what are you doing this Friday?" I stopped what I was doing. Was he seriously asking me out?

"Nothing, why do you ask?"

"Once a year my family has a big business dinner, and I want a friend there so I won't be bored."

"Why not any of your guy friend?"

"My mom wants it to be a girl so it looks more professional."

"And you have no other girl friends?"

"I do, but they are all my guy friends' girlfriends, that would look weird." I sighed at his explanation.
