Chapter Eighteen

Yeji's POV

RINGGG 

The bell rang. Recess is over and unfortunately I don't have any friends that has the same classes with me.

I grabbed my bag and hung it onto my shoulder. 

"Bye guys, I'll see you at lunch." I smiled at them and waved them goodbye as we parted our ways.

I headed over to the Biology Laboratory thinking of the words Yuna had said to me earlier.

"Aish, fine! She's been depressed because Ryujin's your girlfriend now. Now I gotta go and don't you ever dare tell Ryeong I like her. It's your fault."

I got too worried, but suddenly it hits me.

Does Lia like me?

Before I could think much longer, the biology lab door opened. I was shocked to see Lia out the door, and her eyes are tear-stained and dried up. Her eyes was also quite red.

"Ye-yeji?" She stuttered, sniffling.

I didn't hesitate to hug her.

I kept whispering 'I'm sorry' to her and at last I pulled away. She looked confused.

"What do you mean? Why are you apologizing?" Lia asked.

"Yuna told me everything. I'm sorry, really. But believe me, Ryujin is not my girlfriend." I said.

"Why? Why did you reject her? She's practically perfect. Even perfect then me." She said, looking down.

"I'm just a broken person with a dead older brother." Lia added.

I widened my eyes. I mean, yes, she's tough. She's rude to other people. But I didn't see this fragile side. I realized that her older brother was the reason why a soft and fragile person like her is hiding under a fake shell.

I stayed silent.

"Why?" She asked again, her voice louder this time.

"I-" She cut me off again,

"Why? Why did you reject her? You could've had a perfect girlfriend like her. Why? Why? Why-" Lia kept repeating, but I cut her, mid sentence.

"Because I like you!" I said, looking down the ground, blushing.

"Y-you what?" She widened her eyes.

"I... like you." I repeated, my cheeks heating more.

"YES! THE SHIP!" A voice shouted behind us.

Yuna, Ryujin, and Chaeryeong smirked in the hallway, peeking at us while recording the confession with their cell phones.

"What the-" Lia said, but I took my shoes off and threw it at them. They quickly dodged it as they laughed at us.

"Seriously? You spent your whole class out here confessing to each other? It's lunch already." Chaeryeong said.

Wow, time passed faster than I thought.

"Yeah, and don't worry, Yeji unnie. I've moved on like you said. I found a great girl in Physics today." Ryujin blushed.

"Oh, and this confession video? We thought it was cute." Yuna smirked.

"Come here you fucking butter-" Lia got cut off when the professor and students walked out the door, quickly filling the hallways with students as most of them rushing to the cafeteria and line up for food.

I chuckled.

"So, I'll meet you later, Lia?" I told her.

"Yeah, sure." She smiled brightly at me, and I smiled back.

STEP ONE: Confession. Check.

Now I have to wait for her answer.
