The hot water from the shower poured on Yunho's body like a comforting embrace, washing away the long day he had at the theatre. After what he and Haru said to each other the day before, he couldn't help but feel a little guilty that he brought those old things up. Sure, he liked to tease her and everything, but she really seemed hurt. He went too far, and he knew it. But, even when he apologized, she still treated him coldly. To be honest, he kind of deserved it: a simple "sorry" doesn't make things right in a heartbeat.
It wasn't that he hated her, because he didn't. When they had met in high school, he actually thought she was cool: good grades, a great personality, and the fact that they shared the same passion for theatre only attracted him more. He remembered the last time they had worked together when they were still extras in the plays: it was a production of "A Mid-summer night dream" and they were playing the fairies in Titania's court. They had so much fun with the others backstage, while Yeosang (who at the time still a tech-crew helper) tried to keep them quiet so he could adjust someone's mic. She was so pretty in her fairy dress and sparkly makeup...
He missed those times, where he could joke around with her and expect a laugh and not a slap in the face. But things weren't bound to stay like that forever. Not when he had hurt her feelings so bad he basically broke her heart.
He didn't mean to, he really didn't. But he was so dumb at the time, afraid of his own feelings, blind to her friend's ones, and messed everything up. And what he did after that, the constant teasing and fighting, were probably even worse.
He got out of the shower and after he had dried his hair and put some sweatpants on, he went to his room to rest. Seonghwa and Mingi had offered to bring dinner to his place and then hang out for a while, so he had exactly half an hour before they arrived. He closed his eyes, the soreness in his muscles lessened as he breathed deeply. He thanked himself for changing the bedsheets that morning: he felt like he was in paradise, with the soft and clean sheets caressing his back. His breath steadied and he was almost about to fall asleep, but then he heard his phone go off.
"Yeah?"
"We're here, open up!"
He recognized Seonghwa's voice, so he put a shirt on and went to open the door.
Yunho's apartment was situated in a pretty new area of the city, which meant there were few people living there, which should've meant it was quiet. But it was not. At all.
"I can't believe there are still works in progress. What are they trying to build, the Eiffel tower behind your house?" Seonghwa asked from the sofa, gulping down a sip of soda.
"They should be done in a few weeks" Yunho answered from the kitchen, taking a few bottles of Soju from the fridge. "At least they can only work during the day, imagine if they were working now" he joked, going back to the living room where Seonghwa was setting up the food.
"I mean they still wake you up in the morning, you don't even need to set an alarm!"
"Sometimes your optimism baffles me, Mingi" Yunho replied, sitting on the sofa and preparing to eat some junk food with his friends. They started eating, not bothering to talk much while the tv played some movie in the background.
"My back hurts like hell" Mingi stated after he was done eating "Didn't expect San to be so strict..."
Yunho took another sip of soju from his bottle, refraining himself from saying anything. For some reason, the mention of his name annoyed him.
"He's strict, of course, but thanks to him we're working at a much faster pace, meaning that maybe this time we'll perform without...I don't know, skipping four pages of the script?" Seonghwa said, not so subtly hinting at that time where Mingi did, in fact, skip to a line that was four pages after in the script, forcing everyone to act like it didn't happen.
