Haru was living the dream as she invited San in her car to start the-very improvised- city tour she agreed to take him on. She couldn't explain why but being so close to him made her feel all tingly and warm inside: a feeling she hadn't experienced in a good minute.
"So, where are we going?" he asked as he put on the seatbelt.
"I figured I'd give you a tour of the neighborhood first, then if you want we can move downtown"
"Sounds great!" he chirped, the dimples on his cheeks deepening.
His duality was still giving her whiplash: how could he be so strict and authoritative during rehearsals and then transform into a completely different man once he stepped out of the theatre?
Haru started the car, driving out of the garage and into the street.
"As you can see, there really isn't anything special about this neighborhood, except maybe the ice cream parlor over there," she said after they had been driving around for ten minutes, passing boring house after house
"I used to work there part-time during high school" she added, almost choking on her own spit after remembering how Yunho came to pick her up almost every time she ended her shift. She used to hop on the back of his bike and maybe if she was lucky, she managed to sneak out some ice cream to "thank him for his service": ah, good old days...
"Then there's the supermarket, it's open 24/7" she continued, trying to ignore the burning in her chest that she felt from recalling those memories.
"Cool, I'm prone to midnight snacks" San joked, chuckling to himself.
"That makes two of us" she answered, "I suppose you already know how to go to the theatre from your apartment so...downtown?"
"Yeah, downtown sounds great!"
Twenty minutes later they were out of her car and walking through the streets of the city center, with Haru showing San the best places to eat, drink, party, or just have a coffee.
"As you can see it's pretty small, the whole town hangs out on this one road and maybe after that roundabout over there, if you really like absinthe"
"Wait, do they only serve absinthe?"
"Yeah, but I've never been there"
"I have been in a place like that once when I went to Prague...it's true what they say, you know? That drinking too much of it makes you hallucinate..."
"Hah, I didn't take you for a drinker..." she observed.
"Oh, that wasn't me...Hongjoong was off the shits that night" he recalled, laughing to himself, "We worked together in Prague for about three months last year"
"Really? That's so cool... so you and Hongjoong have worked together before"
"On more than one occasion" he answered "Either I'm choreographing something, and I want him to arrange the music, or he calls me to choreograph on his arrangements. We're kind of a team"
"Yeah, I get that..."
"Speaking of teams" San started, once they stopped at a bench to rest "How are things between you and Yunho? Last time at rehearsals you both seemed a lot more relaxed..."
Oh.
San waiter for her response, while all she could replay in her head were the words that she heard Yunho say to Mingi while he didn't know she could hear.
