Haru was still thinking about the conversation she had the day before with San as she was heading to Soojin's house to pick her up: the way he reassured her about the whole discussion with Yunho almost gave her whiplash, considering how cold he was during rehearsals. Also, she believed she saw him smiling and blushing before heading away. But maybe she was just imagining things...that happened pretty often, too often for her liking: she believed someone felt a certain way towards her, then it turned out to be completely the opposite. What if he was just trying to be nice? Nice people existed, despite what Yunho (and occasionally her old aunts she only saw during the holidays) led her to believe every day.
Maybe she was just overthinking it, just a little.
She pulled up in Soojin's driveway just as she was coming out of her house.
"Hey!" she greeted her as soon as she got in the car.
"Hi, you were just in time! Ready to go!"
"Yeah" she answered, not paying attention to her friend as she pulled out of the driveway.
Soon enough, Soojin noticed how out of it she was, especially when she almost didn't stop at a red light, hitting the brakes just in time.
"What has gotten into you? If you wanted to get rid of me, that was a wrong move!"
"I'm sorry, it's just... I've been overthinking shit and it's driving me crazy"
Haru's hands tightened around the steering wheel, her knuckles turning white. She expected Soojin to bombard her with questions, but she just nodded in understanding and patted her shoulder. She was glad to her for that, given the fact that she wasn't in the right headspace to talk about it just yet.
"I'm sorry that you feel this way...do you want to talk about it?"
"Not really... well, not now at least"
"Then hear this: when we're done, we come back to my house, we get some junk food into our stomachs... maybe try some of the new face masks I bought and if you want, we can talk?"
"You had me at junk food" she giggled.
The rest of the ride to the theatre was quiet, with only the sound of the music coming out of the radio filling the car. When they came out of the car, the first thing she saw was Yunho parking his bike: he looked tired, as he lazily adjusted his shirt and tossed his backpack on his shoulder. His hair almost covered his eyes, only emphasizing the dark circles under them. He wasn't usually like this: but that was none of her business, she thought as she closed the car door after picking her bag.
"Hi girls! Haru, can I talk to you for a second?" he asked as they were passing him to go change. She almost felt bad, seeing him like this.
"Yeah, sure..."
So, they were left alone in the parking lot, as Soojin had conveniently decided to mind her business and leave.
Yunho waited a few seconds before speaking, maybe to make sure that no one was listening.
"Ok, listen... I'm sorry for what I said two days ago, I am. I shouldn't have attacked you like that"
"At last, you came around to realize it" she added sarcastically, only to shut up after seeing the tiredness in his eyes. She kind of pitied him a little.
"I'm serious, Haru. I was an asshole and I regret everything I said...except the part where I said you were talented, I meant that for real"
There he was. That was Yunho, the real Yunho, the one she remembered when she re-watched some old videos of the shows they had done together.
"Well, thanks, I appreciate that" she answered "And I accept your apologies. We both obviously started with the wrong foot and I would like us to...well, not get along because we can't do that apparently, but at least tolerate each other until the show ends"
