partiality within insecurities
"You know, this picture doesn't look half as bad."
"You're only saying that because you're in it with me, dad."
"I think you might be right there."
A few days back Wynter and her father attended the UEFA Champions League group stage draw as the french player had been served with the honour of being nominated for the UEFA Women's Player of the Year Award for 2018/19. Somehow, she managed to obtain the title during the previous season and with her successful start with Liverpool, many had their bets on her to win the title for the second year in a row.
She couldn't lie to herself, she had a few nerves fuelling up in her system as she walked the red carpet alongside Reed, both Reyes' posing for the cameras. Despite the Champions League victory with Liverpool a few days prior, after Les Bleues failed to level with Les Bleus during the Women's World Cup, Wynter developed some major doubts on whether she would receive future nominations, practically going against the praise and worship she got from many after the season came to an end.
And that praise and worship weren't for nothing 'cause when the presenter called out Wynter's name that practical night in Monaco, Wynter was ushered with an excess amount of them by various football players (including some of her teammates) as she made her way to the stage to claim her rightful title, a bright grin radiating her state of euphoria.
Of course, after the draw she and the other winners that night in Monaco had to return to the red carpet for even more pictures, the majority of her moments captured alongside Virgil and Alisson. So with all these moments taken and being the extra person Wynter knew her mother to be, within a few days Claire managed to get all of her daughter's favoured photos exclusively framed so then they could take their reserved place in her achievements room.
After hanging the final photo on the wall, Reed turned to his daughter. "Alright Winnie, what do you think?"
"Wait, let me just. . ." Wynter stepped away from the displays so then she could have a proper view of everything. She folded her arms, silently spectating the display. She hadn't noticed it but a satisfied grin fell upon her features once she got the view of the biggest framed photo from the award ceremony, which was the french player holding the title, a look of pride in her eyes.
When she hadn't given him a response yet, Reed approached his daughter with a concerned look on his face. "Hey, Winnie. If you don't like it we can get it redone. I'm sure your mother can get that arranged—"
Wynter shook her head. "No, dad. That's the thing, I love it," she said, glancing up at him.
"Oh thank God 'cause if you didn't, your mom would've been ready to kill me." Reed let out a relieved sigh, his daughter laughing as he brought her into a hug.
"I'm being for real here, dad. I mean, how can I not like it? Kai always does a good job with the presentation." Whenever the french player claimed a new award or title, she always had to update her achievements room and Kai was the woman she relied on to design the room, instructing the colour themes, the lighting in the room and where certain awards and medals should be placed for public display.
"You know after everything that has and is happening in my career, sometimes I still find it hard to process that I've made it so far."
"I think all your awards can speak for themselves," Reed spoke as he spun Wynter around so she could view the success-filled room. Her awards and such were arranged by football season, so her World Cup medal and photos were separate from her CL medal and visual memories.
