two steps forward, one step back

After Wynter hadn't returned for the remainder of the training session many of the boys were left to question her whereabouts in the training grounds. Seeing as his players' questions wouldn't die down without an explanation, once he'd been informed about her playing status, Jürgen addressed to the squad that she would be out of squad training and matches for the next following weeks, explaining that she'd be participating in individual training like whenever she was caught under fire with the media.
This, of course, led to the boys wondering what happened and questioning how she was doing though once they realised she was simply just in and around Melwood, they made sure to update themselves on her status—slow yet steady. Not to mention, she always displayed her attendance at Liverpool's home matches so it's not like the guys weren't seeing her anymore.
A week or so after Wynter's absence from the squad had gone mainstream in the football media, the boys were back in training. Unfortunately, they drew 1-1 with Napoli in the Champions League yesterday though they couldn't dwell on their performance for that particular match as they had to place their priorities on their match against Brighton in the next few days. Liverpool was on top of the PL table along with holding a winning streak throughout the whole competition and the players planned to leave that record undisturbed.
While the majority of the boys were concentrated in what they were engaged in, Trent couldn't seem to get his girlfriend out of his mind, a blank expression smacked on his face. After his confrontation with the french player a few days ago, Trent hadn't held a proper conversation with her, the scouse still baring familiar guilt from the tense state he managed to place her in yet again.
As Trent seemed to be so out of focus, he didn't notice the ball heading his way. When the ball made firm contact with his cheek, he let out a yelp as his hand flew up to his face.
"Oh, shoot. My bad," Trent glanced at the direction where the ball sourced from, catching Alex jogging his way over. "Actually, maybe you should be paying attention to your surroundings," Alex said in a mocking tone, letting out a laugh.
"Yeah, yeah. Whatever," Trent huffed, rubbing his palm over his cheek.
Noticing the timidness in his tone, Alex rose a brow. "You alright? You seem a bit out of it and not just because I hit you with the ball."
"Yeah, I'm good," the scouse rolled his eyes. "I was just thinking about Winnie, that's all."
Alex nodded. "Ah, I heard you both aren't on speaking terms at the moment."
"Yeah, we aren't." Wynter was willing to hold discussions with the boys but when it came to Trent she always brushed him off claiming if he could cut her off with no abrupt explanation then she could do the same and quite frankly, the defender wasn't surprised by her counter-reaction to deny him whenever he attempted to approach her in Melwood. He claimed he would miss her ever so dearly though as soon as she went to fall into his embrace, he allowed the french player to fall back on the floor.
"I mean, I had it coming my way when I didn't answer her calls during the break so I'm just going to have to deal with her not wanting to talk to me until she approaches me," he shrugged.
"Why don't you just approach her? 'Cause let's face it, you have serious explaining and apologies to give," when Trent presented him with a deadpanned glance, Alex retorted with a challenging look. "What? Am I lying? Anyway, it's not like she's not training anymore. She's literally inside right now doing her session."
"I've tried, but I feel like she's avoiding me. If she's not training, she occupied with doing something else. I think she's making sure she's always doing something so then she doesn't have to talk to me," Trent explained, his shoulders visibly slumping.
