In the busy streets of New York and among the highest skyscrapers lives a girl destined for success just not in the way she expected. Sure she doesn't have "best friends" or hobbies or free time but she likes it that way- or that's what she tells her self constantly. Here we catch Cassie Ortega in her utmost natural habitat and according to her it's the biggest day of her life.~
"Okay, when you get inside the office don't be jittery or jumpy or overexcited"-
"Okay Mom "jittery" is not even in my vocabulary but the overexcited part I get, finally after 5 years of working my but off to get this promotion, it's happening. Sucking up to Mr Holloway every day just for this moment and he's finally going to give the long overdue job I've always wanted."
"Yeah well sweetie I am so proud of you, your Dad would've been to"
"I miss him the most when it comes to things like this"
"Me too, but he's watching over you, even today"
"Thanks, Mom, you know I miss you too."
"I know honey I do to, but we'll see each other sooner than you know it, now don't let me keep you, Talk to you later"
"Thanks, Mom, bye!"
Off she went in her swanky new suit dress that she bought 3 years ago- she thought it was going to happen a lot quicker obviously. She walks to the subway oozing confidence and gleaming with a smile. In her own daydreams, she gets carried away with all sorts of life goals that are finally going to come true ... before she knows it, her stop is here. Now this all seems so exciting but wait and look at what happens.~
"AYO CASSIE! MY GIRL HOW IS IT GOING!"
"...Michael... It's going good"
"Well it should be, today is the day you've been waiting for, you're totally getting that promotion."
"Thanks, it has been a long time coming, the overnights, filing, having an office next to you, it's just been so great"-
"Can I have everyone's attention please"
The room settles, ready to hear the big news. The big moment when Mr Holloway announces that the promotion goes to...
"Michael!"
"WHAT?!"
This is what I was waiting for- see everyone in the office had there mind set on Cassie getting the promotion she couldn't have imagined it going to anyone else which made it a lot more heartbreaking for her. The office celebrating with Michael while Cassie takes it what has happened before breaking her silence with ...
"YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!"
The room falls silent and it dawns on Cassie that all eyes and ears are on her including Mr Holloway's.
"I mean, Michael is an excellent person for the job, I couldn't think of a more hardworking worker, great ...job...Michael.
"Aw thanks, Cassie, couldn't have done it without ya"
And with that, everyone goes back to cheering on Michael and Cassie goes back to her office cubicle dumbfound and silent. This was not planned and for that to even happen was disaster within itself. Thought of her purpose in life and those big life goals had fallen to pieces. Well, at least she can go home to sulk alone and in peace... right?
