Opposites

The Mistakes

Cassie keeps walking in the rain, she doesn't know where's she's going but it doesn't matter as long as it's away from him.

"Cassie, stop, please stop! I can explain."
"I don't want to hear your explanation. You're a liar."

Jason grabs Cassie by the hand to make her stop.
Which is when they decide to yell at each other.

"Do not touch me! You know at first when Michael told me that's you were in it for yourself, I didn't  believe him."-
"And you believe him now? Without even talking to me?"
"What more do you me to hear?! I trusted you, I thought of you as a friend. Now I realise that's you are a backstabbing, 2 faced, money-grabbing person!"-
"Yeah well, you're a  beautiful, hardworking, intelligent and affectionate person. AND I LOVE YOU!"

HE SAID IT HE FINALLY SAID IT! Cassie this is your chance.

"I.."...

Come on, Cassie!

As the rain pours down, Cassie's unable to give a response. Jason shakes his head while the silence continues.

"You don't have anything to say. Why did I ever think that you and I had something? Mr Holloway came to, giving me this offer that I could take over this project on my own, that I would get a hefty sum for it as well, I didn't take it, I told him there and there that's this project was all you. I didn't do anything but support you Cas. It sucks because I love you more than anything and you don't even have an answer. You can believe that if you want to. I thought you wanted to help all these people, it turns out all you wanted was a better job. When you go to work tomorrow and you celebrate your victory, pass a message from me, will you? I quit."

Jason leaves. You want Cassie to stop him but she won't. She's already made a big mistake in listening to Michael, she doesn't want to make it worse, she's hurt him enough. She walks home... in the pouring rain... soaked...sulky... sad, just like she did when she didn't get the promotion. She arrives at the apartment and an eager Emily waiting for the details.

"So... how did it go!"

"Cassie! Did you tell him?"
...
"Cassie?"
"Can you be quiet Emily."
"It didn't go well then"-
"No it didn't and if you wanna keep pushing it you can leave. I've had it with you forcing me into things, so why don't you just go back to your perfect life and leave my broken one alone."

Her words hurt Emily as no one knows what she's been through.

"You know what? I'm so sick of you thinking my life is a thing of dreams, but you, you're so self-obsessed you didn't even ask why I'm here and not at College. You wanna know why Cassie? I got framed for cheating in the finals, they kicked me out the school then they kicked me out of my dorm and the only choice I had was to come to you because God knows what Mom would do. But you were right coming to You was a big mistake.

Emily gets her bags and leaves while Cassie goes after her.

"Em stop it! I'm sorry, Em!"

That's it, first Jason now Emily. If I could leave I would. Cassie walks back into her apartment numb and distressed. 2 mistakes, sounds small, but the impact was big. There's no coming back from this.
