Metroid: Samus Begins

The energy field restored Samus's body as she stepped out of the teleporter and onto the cold metallic floor of the pirate base!

"Scans reveal this is Tourion , the heart of all pirate operations on Zebes and the location of mother brain . Structural analysis indicates Tourion is surrounded by a force field on the outside of the base which prevents the planet's internal pressure from destroying it. The generator for this shield is guarded by mother brain."

The area was tall had many pipes and framework snaking across the walls and ceilings. The material was a mixture of bright grey, red and dark black. Samus approached an orange door and shot it open entering into a cylindrical shaped hallway with bars and wires lining the walls . 7 turrets suddenly deployed from the ceiling and a pirate commando unveiled itself from its cloaking device, it held a device in the air and an alarm went off. The turrets fired constant rapid shots and many of them actually hit their target. Destroying two of them with super missiles Samus then turned to the commando and hit him with the diffusion beam which also temporarily disabled another turret. An elevator at the end of the hall opened and 15 pirates with green ablative armour ran out shooting furiously with panic in their faces seeing their foe in their territory. One swipe of the grapple beam sent one of the pirates into a turret destroying it and sending debris straight into the skull of the weakened commando . Scanning the remaining turrets allowed Samus to hack them and turn them on their former allies. A barrage of shots from the turrets and one charged diffusion shot made short work of the remaining pirates. The elevator descended quickly and Samus quickly stepped out onto the platform where a tram was waiting . Two dead space pirates were inside and one zebesian limped around barely even conscious, its once purple skin now a bleak grey as illuminated by a light in the tram . Samus simply kicked the half dead zebesian out the other side of the tram onto the track and it didn't even fight back she scanned it, confused as to what had happened. "Target has had most of its life energy syphoned by an unknown source it has also sustained injuries from forceful impact suggesting it was thrown around by its attacker. Additional scans show the two dead space pirates have had their life force drained as well. Several deep scratch marks are visible on the sides of their helmets . She activated the lever which started up the tram and sent it racing through the tunnels and coming to a stop in an area now completely silver . A single white door marked what she imagined as the gateway into whatever hell lay beyond. Two zebesians climbed down the walls and shot beans from their semi mechanical pincers. The ice bream froze both of them and they shattered into a dozen pieces upon hitting the floor. Taking a deep breath she shot and entered the doorway opening up what appeared to be a research lab or some sort, extreme damage was visible all around the first corridor she walked through . Several containment tubes lined both sides of the hallway and all of them had the glass broken and the internal liquids spilled across the floor! Space pirate and zebesian corpses lined the halls in all kinds of positions , some of them even laying inside the breached containment units. The ceiling and walls had visible blast damage from both beams and missiles and judging by the positions of the corpses it wasn't hard to deduce where those shots had come from. All the corpses were completely grey and had deep claw marks on their heads , some of them even had their hands covering their faces and clear expression of terror and panic was also visible. Samus had chills and began to feel nervous "what the hell happened " she muttered partially freaked out. The injuries and scan results all lined up with what Admiral Dane had told her about the Metroid the space pirates stole. Yet this carnage was obviously done by more than one attacker. She felt really unsettled and decided to keep her cannon set on the ice beam. She didn't even bother to scan the containment units as she knew it wouldn't reveal anything of much more use. The end of the hall expanded into a slope downwards as a missile blast to the ceiling had blown a chunk free which had collapsed and created a slight hill downwards. Sliding down it Samus reached the bottom and found another pirate corpse . Another long corridor extended infront of her but the lights in the ceiling were partially broken which left them permanently flickering. Within the darkness of the hallway a zebesian corpse could be seen dragged along by its knees as the rest of the body was titled at an angle as something pulled it along by its head. The flickering light revealed the monster in glimpses as it crept towards Samus. It's body was curved and translucent, showcasing 3 membranes inside it. Four long and freakishly sharp mandibles gripped onto the skull of its prey as it drifted through the air. It dropped the body and a disturbing squeal escaped from its mouth which was located underneath it. Samus's blood ran cold and she shifted uncomfortably at the horrible sound that made every hair on her body stand. Switching to the scan visor hastily Samus prepared to face that which had been the subject of her bounty all along.
