Irwin side ~ 'the one who can't be forgiven'
"O-Of course..." I falsely chortled, dropping my luggage on the ground and stepping back into my room. "Of course, we can talk."
My younger sister had obviously seen the photo, I wanted to run away from this issue (literally) before she had a chance to open the front door to our home but a little more than three-fourths of me knew it wasn't the best resolution.
"Great..." Her long hair was tied in a right side braid, her make up was a little worn out, no signs of tears but she did let out a visible frown when Luke turned around to face her. "...Could we have some privacy, please?"
He didn't verbally answered, only nodded and took slow steps to leave my bedroom. He also gave me a little fake smile to cheer me up before closing the door, although it was useless.
As panic started to swell in my chest, I heaved. "Amanda, okay, please listen..."
Veraciously, I had absolutely no idea what I could do or say to make up for the unfaithfulness Luke and I had created. Though, I somehow lead myself to believe that everything was going to fall in place at its own time.
"Luke is..." It did not matter how many times I tried to gulp down my anxiety, a huge knot of it kept coming back, making it hard for me to speak. "Amanda, Luke and I..."
"Ashton," She didn't want me to explain, judging by her actions. First, she raised a hand in midair, right above her shoulder for a second, gesturing me to stop talking. Next, as she carefully dropped her arm, she walked closer to shake her head at me. "The picture...Does it mean what I think it does?"
I was slightly confused by her question and therefore wasn't able to answer properly. "Well...Uh...What do you think it means?"
Bad Ashton. The instant I asked, her voice wavered. "D-Do...Do you like Luke?"
"Amanda, please don't cry." Yes, I know I was just making her feel worse when I requested it, but I couldn't help myself. I automatically shifted close to her, wrapping my arms around her torso as tightly as I could. "Please don't cry..."
She did the opposite.
We couldn't even stay in that position for more than ten seconds since she suddenly pushed me away, her face tinted red from struggling not to weep like a maniac. Though, loud sobs and gasps seemed like the only way for her to inhale fresh air as she sat on my bed, shocked. "A-Ashton, y-you like him?! So, it's true?!"
"Yes..." I mean, no. I meanー "I love Luke..."
I don't know what empowered me to admit it so proudly, and I certainly didn't know what kind of reaction I was expecting. She covered her face, desperately shaking her head at my proclaim. Not speaking to me, just whimpering like a hurt little puppy and looking around my room in disbelief, tears streaming down from her light hazel eyes.
'Please understand, I didn't mean for this to happen...'
'I didn't want you to find out about it in this way...'
'I didn't mean to steal your boyfriend...'
Those were just a few phrases I was thinking of using as minor consolation; but the truth was...none of them would of worked, either. I went with the most unoriginal one of all, "I'm sorry..."
My throat clogged on nothing, basically. I knew we weren't going to solve anything that day. The news were like a huge storm and my sister had always hated the rain. There was no way I could make her forgive me in a second. It still didn't stop me from trying, "I'm sorry...I'm really sorry, Mandy..."
