12: The Gunshot Has Gone Off

Title: Everything Is Fine by All Time Low

"Lexy," Jack whispers into my ear. I groan and turn. "Lex, you gotta wake up. We have school," he says. I open my eyes and sit up.

"What the shit?" I turn to him. "When did- why are you-"

"Well, after dinner, we came back and watched another movie, then you fell asleep, and I thought you were tired so I let you sleep, but then... Uh- I fell asleep too."

I give him a look. "We've been asleep for like- nine hours." I facepalm. I climb out of bed. "Wait, do you need to go home?"

He nods. "Also don't want Rian thinking we slept together- in the other way, if you get what I m-"

"Jack!" I whisper-shout.

He smiles and pecks my forehead. "Well, I gotta go. I'll see you in... Thirty minutes," he says, frowning at his watch. He sighs and grabs his bag. He rushes out the door.

I change and get ready before walking down. I see a note on the table.

I had to go early. I might have to go on a day trip, I'm not sure. Sorry, Alex. ~Mom

I sigh and sit down. I have ten minutes.

Jack is warm. I smile, remembering how safe I felt in his arms- wait fuck nope. I shake my head and stand up. I pace around and try to clear my head of Jack.

I pace around for another five minutes before running out of the house, locking the door, and walking to Rian's.

He opens the door and stares at me. "Am I late or something?" He asks, looking around for Tay or Jack.

"Nope, I'm just awake and bored as shit," I answer. He rolls his eyes and walks out, closing the door behind him.

We sit on the chairs that are on the balcony.

"So, did you find out if Jack's a secret agent?" Rian asks, rocking back and forth in the rocking chair. "Does he own any guns? Can he backflip off of stuff? Could he jump off a roof and-"

"Ri, he isn't a secret agent," I sigh.

"Uh-huh. That's what a friend of a secret agent would say."

I roll my eyes and notice Jack walking out of the house. "Why don't you ask him then?" I stand up and gesture towards him.

"He might probe me," Rian says and stands up too, following me towards Jack.

"Good morning, you two," Jack says. "Where's Tay?"

"She lives on our path to get to the school, so she stays in her home until we walk over to it," I answer. I send him a quick smile.

The three of us start walking. Jack wraps his arm over my shoulders. "So, you and Rian, huh?" He whispers.

I give him a look and shake my head. Rian's ahead of us. "Nope. I don't have my eyes on anyone."

"Yet," Jack whispers. "If I were gay, I'd tap that," he says, jutting his head towards Rian. I laugh and lean against him.

Tay walks out and eyes Jack and I before talking to Rian. She laughs and Rian glances at the two of us, frowning.

Tay and Rian wait for us before all of us walk across the road. "Should the four of us meet over the weekend? I know Kellin and Justin have a game on Saturday, Vic is watching and probably going to confess his love for Kellin in front of the crowd- I mean what? Uh, Lisa has a gallery walk with her family," Tay lists off.
