Title: Backseat Serenade by All Time Low
"I told you, you can't run from me," he grabs my neck. I scream, but Jack doesn't show up. "You're mine now. Your soldier boyfriend can't save you."
"ALEX."
I open my eyes and stare at Jack. His arms are still around me- we must have fallen asleep. I take a deep breath and close my eyes, trying to calm down.
"Lex, are you okay? You started mumbling and then you screamed and-" he sighs. "Was it about him?" I nod. He pulls me closer against him. He pulls up the blanket and tucks me in. "Lex, I'm right here. He can't hurt you."
"I kept screaming- and you didn't- you weren't there-" I say breathlessly. He tucks my hair behind my ear. "And- he started-" I bite my lower lip.
Jack sighs and holds me. "I promise you, he can't hurt you. He'll have to kill me before he can do that."
I bury my face into his chest and breathe slowly. "Okay."
He pulls away slightly. "It's already 9. They get here at 12:30, so we should probably get ready."
We had gone to his place after our friends left. My mom said it was alright as long as we stayed together. She's probably just happy that I'm acting happier.
I watch as Jack stands up. He walks to his closet and pulls out a sweatshirt. I look away as he changes, my face getting hot.
"What?" Jack asks. I glance at him and- well fuck. He still doesn't have a top on. "Oh my god, are you blushing?" He asks. I shake my head. "Awww, you're so red." He puts the sweatshirt on. He walks to the bed and sits next to me. He pokes my nose gently and smiles.
"Jacky," I whine. He laughs and stands up. "You're so mean to me."
"I know," he says and walks to the bathroom. "Just steal one of my sweatshirts from the closet," he shouts. "Just give it back later, I guess."
I laugh and grab a random black sweatshirt, putting it on.
I shouldn't have blushed that much. Why did I? Oh my god, no- Think about Tom Holland- or Mark Hoppus- OR ANYONE ELSE FOR-
"Alex, are you okay?" Jack snaps his fingers. "You totally blanked out."
"Wha- no, I'm fine," I clear my throat.
"Uh-huh. Anyway, I asked if anyone is allergic to anything."
"Oh, no. No allergies in this... Household?" I blink.
"You're acting weird," he says and walks out of the room. I follow behind him and get to the kitchen.
He makes breakfast. "Wait, Alex." He turns. "Woah." He waves in front of my face. I blink. "Are you sure you're okay?"
"I- yeah- why?"
"You're acting weird." He grabs my arms and shakes me gently. "Snap out of it. Anyway, do you think I should call the pizza place earlier? I don't want it to be late and then everyone's hungry and upset and-"
"Jack, don't worry about it. They love you. Don't worry about them."
He sighs and nods. "Thanks, Lex."
~~~
I bury my head into his shoulder and smile. He holds me tighter and laughs. "Lex, they'll be here in like five minutes."
"They're always late anyway," I mumble and pull away. I lay my head on his lap. "Jack, what did you do when we were- you know."
He sighs and plays with my hair. "Well, I kind of- had sex. And drank. And was a lonely-ass bitch. I'm obviously a lot better with you."
