"Thanks" I smiled and she returned it
Jerome and one of his friends were in a deep conversation about something back in California.
"So what happened with your car?" She asked
"I don't know. It would start so Jerome gave me a ride to school and you know what happened from there, but August insisted on getting it fixed then he said he might just get me a new car" I explained and she chuckled
"Charming isn't he" She smirked
"He's more like a pain in the ass" I said shaking my head
"He's really persistent and aggressive. He just doesn't understand that I need time" I sighed
"Time for what?" She questioned
"Just to get my thoughts together I guess. I pretty much homeless and he's just thinks saying sorry and begging me to forgive will make everything better. It use to be like that, just not anymore" I sighed
"I just happy your not running back to him after he hurts you so much" She says
I'm proud of for standing up to him and putting him in his place. I just want him to know that for me to give him it will take a lot more than 'I'm sorry', but I do feel bad for what I said to him because I can't help, but wonder what if he does care as much as he says? What if he does love and care for me as much as he says? I want to believe that somewhere deep down that he does care for me, but I don't think its enough for me to forgive him.
"We should go to a club tonight. What do you think?" She asks me
"I'm only 19 remember" I laugh softly
"Doesn't matter, I'm sure Jerome is going to come and he knows a lot of people and we leave for California soon, the least we could do is go out one night before" She says
"Yeah I guess we could go" I said
"Don't worry you'll have Jerome to protect you" She smirked and I laugh pushing her playfully
August Pov
"You'll be alone for the rest of your life and I don't even care because I'm going to find someone treat me the way you didn't and I'll be happy"
Liyah's words keep repeating over and over in my head. I know she's right, but I don't want to admit it. I never gave a fuck about being on my own, but ever since Aliyah I realize I don't like that feeling.
