Aliyah's POV
I walk to the bathroom to wash my face and get myself together. I feel more at peace than I was twenty minutes ago and I am actually glad I came back here. Despite everything that happened between August and I, I am glad to know I can always count on him. He's the only constant in my life right now, I remember him saying something like that before. Did he mean it? If he didn't, I believe he must have a change of heart by now. I just wish he would tell me more about how he feels. Seeing him break down like that was the most emotion I had seen him show since I met him, I just want to know the meaning behind his tears.
The lukewarm water washed away all of my smeared makeup from this morning. I am not sure why I was so emotional over my father's return when the reason why he left is still a mystery to me. I think it was more anger towards my mother, the unexpected mention of my father, and everything going on with August was just too much and I broke down. I walk back to the room to find August sitting on the floor next to my bags.
"I went for your bags." He tells me.
"Thank you and I hope I'm not intruding on anything." I tell him bending down to get some sweats and a tank top.
"You know that I want you here right?" He says calmly
"I guess." I shrug and he frowns
"You should know by now that I want you here more than anything, Liyah."
"I know... It's just your mother is here and I'm bringing all this drama plus the crying to you when your suppose to be spending time with your mom." I explain
"My mom is more than happy you're here and so am I."
My heart sped up but I change the subject.
"Do you have anything planned with her today?" I ask
"We were suppose to go to the mall but we'll go tomorrow." He tells me
"You guys can go, I'll be okay by myself for a couple f hours." I don't want him canceling his plans just to please me.
"I know but I don't want you to be by yourself."
"August, I'll be fine."
"Aliyah." He growls with a glare.
Did he forget that he doesn't decide things for me anymore??
"Sorry." He mumbles
"Much better." I say fighting a smile.
He's been so gentle lately but it's nice to know he's still himself.
