I could've sworn there was a bite mark on her right leg, but if there was, it's gone now.
"That's so weird..." Kira muttered.
"So I'm not the only one that thought there was a bite mark on this leg? What about the other leg?" I asked as I looked up at my wife.
Kira shook her head.
"It's this leg, Yuki. There's no mark on my left leg. I don't understand why it disappeared...that's so strange. You're not crazy, Yuki. It was this leg." She replied.
"Yeah. Was." I said as I stared at the leg and where the bite mark should've been, trying to figure out what could've happened to the bite mark.
Wait....
I teased Kira about werewolves just a few minutes ago, but don't werewolves regenerate quickly?
Or am I getting confused with vampires?
I guess both of them do.
My eyes widening, I practically leapt up from the floor and stared at Kira.
"Yuki, what-"
"I got it! Don't werewolves regenerate quickly?" I asked.
"I think so, but-"
"There was a bite mark on your right leg last night, but now it's gone, and it's only the next day. It was like it wasn't even there in the first place!"
And then I remembered Neon. Neon is Kira's sister and her best friend.
.....Actually, they're foster sisters. But the reason I brung Neon up is because she has healing powers, and trust me, I've seen her heal some people before simply with her hands.
"Ah, maybe you went to Neon's place. Did you go there recently?"
"No, and I didn't sleep walk, either." Kira said.
"Huh...strange." I said, but then began getting ready for bed and Kira did the same. I turned the light off after we were finished.
"So what if you're a werewolf?" I asked as I sat down on the bed, with Kira already laying down on it.
Kira turned her head to me and looked at me, unamused by my suggestion.
"Yeah, yeah, I know they're not real. But still. Did you notice anything about the wolf that bit you yesterday?" I asked.
Kira turned away from me and looked up at the ceiling.
"Well, it seemed like it was a bit bigger than normal wolves and pretty intent on tryin' t' kill me." She said.
"Anything else?"
"Not that I know of."
Kira sighed.
"I'd hate to be a werewolf, Yuki." She said as she rolled over away from me in bed.
"Why? The pain of the transformation?" I asked as I also laid down.
"Not just that. It's also the fact that the werewolf in question most likely wouldn't be able to control themselves. Just imagine turning into a murderous beast on the night of a full moon and then waking up the next day not knowing what you did and possibly even where you are. I wouldn't be able to bear with the fact that I killed someone, even if I didn't know them or like them." She explained.
"Not to mention that werewolves eventually go after those they love most, right? That would mean you'd eventually die, Yuki. I...don't want that to happen." She said.
I pulled her closer to me and I kissed her cheek.
"I won't let that happen, m'lady." I said.
I heard Kira chuckle, and soon she was asleep.
