"Honey wake up come on! It's 9 o'clock!" James heard his mother call from somewhere in the house. He knew he had to get up but his bed had suddenly become the most comfortable place on earth. It was a chilly day and James could hear the rain on the roof making his bed seem really warm. James's bedroom door then opened and his mother came through the door.
"Come on I have to do a couple of things this morning and you are coming with me ok? Ok get up and dressed I'll see you down stairs in ten minutes." She addressed closing the door as she left. James although he didn't want to got out of bed and got changed. He always loved going to do things with his mother. It was just the way muggles do things he found it rather interesting.
"Breakfast honey?"
"No thanks I'll get some when we get back."
"Ok come on we are headed to a couple of stores so I know you will but I'm asking anyway please behave."
"Haha I always do." James said while grabbing his coat and heading out to the car. A few hours had passed and that had done two of four stores they were going to. This one was his favourite the muggle news shop. James always found the muggle news interesting because it was nothing like the news of the wizarding world. While they were there James was reading the news as he had done all the time when he was in there.
"What's interesting about that?" A voice asked from behind him. James turned around and it was one of the store workers.
"Um I-I'm not sure just reading I guess."
"Don't your parents let you read the paper?"
"Umm th-" he was stopped there as his mother came over.
"He never asks but we do leave them at the table so he can." She said putting an arm around James and bringing him in close to her side. The store worker then turned around and left.
"Sorry mum." He said finding a sudden interest in his shoes. His mother bent down on one knee in front of him.
"It's ok honey come on let's go I've done what I needed to." She said pushing his hair aside and kissing him on the forehead. She got up and took his hand and they both left and headed to the last place. The bakery. James loves going here because his mother always got him a treat.
When they returned home they hung up their wet coats by this time it was 1 o'clock. They both went to the kitchen where his dad was standing.
"Dad!" He screamed running to him and hugging him.
"Hey buddy" his dad replied messing his hair up.
"Here this arrived for you today buddy." He said getting a letter and giving it to James.
"I'm proud of you son." At this moment his mother knew exactly what it was. James tore the letter open and read it.

"HOGWARTS! I GOT EXCEPTED INTO HOGWARTS!" He screamed barely able to believe it.
A/N Again sorry the chapter is short but I have other ideas for things that happened that will be introduced later when we meet the characters. The chapters will be longer when they get to Hogwarts.
