Ryan sat on the end of his bed, crouched over looking at his phone as the sound of the running water in the bathroom controlled the ambiance of the room. Shane and Ryan had just arrived at another location to investigate the Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum in West Virginia. The next morning they would be driving up and staying the night in this creepy, haunted asylum. Great.
He looked up as the door opened and Shane walked out, his hair still wet and looking like a mop on his head.
"Nice hair." Ryan commented.
"Shut up Ryan, it's wet, you expect it to look good?" Shane walked over and pushed his shoulder with a small smile as he took a seat on the bed. "Ready for tomorrow?" Of course he wasn't, Ryan was never ready to sleep inside a fucking haunted asylum.
"No, what kind of question is that. Are you ready?"
"Yes, what kind of question is that?" Shane shot back in a mocking tone. Ryan rolled his eyes,
"Shut up Shane." Shane laughed at him and laid back on the bed, causing Ryan to move up next to him so Shane didn't kick him with his long ass legs. The two sat in relative silence, occasionally sharing a meme or looking at fanart they were sent. The night slowly drained on and eventually Shane had fallen asleep. Ryan was busy worrying and stayed up for another hour or two, but he did end up getting some sleep.
The morning came all too soon and it was now time to start their hour drive up to the asylum. Ryan shrugged on a t-shirt and messed with his hair while Shane was lacing up his shoes.
"Are we meeting the crew for breakfast?"
"Yeah, down in the lobby. Speaking of which we need to go." Ryan nodded and tossed on his matching boots, following his friend out the door.
They walked down to the lobby, finding their friends already sitting down with their food.
"Morning." Ryan greeted as he sat down next to Devon, taking a waffle that he assumed was grabbed for him.
"Morning guys, ready for the shoot?"
"I am, we all know Ryan isn't." The table laughed, Ryan rolled his eyes.
"I'm sure I'll be fine." He said calmly, feigning confidence.
He was not fine.
Ryan shook as he walked next to Shane in the asylum. It was a mixture of the voices he had heard and the force that actually pushed Shane over (he claimed he tripped) that had Ryan fearing for his life.
They entered another room and sat down on the floor, starting the spirit box.
"If you don't want us here please say so." Shane said, calm like normal
Go away
It was so clear that Ryan physically jumped up and away from the spirit box. His legs wobbled and he sat back down, ignoring the worrying glance from Mark.
"Ryan," Shane chuckled, "it's just radio frequencies." He tried to excuse, but Ryan could see a tiny bit of fear in the fearless mans eyes. If Shane was scared- Ryan trembled more and reached out with a shaking hand, turning off the spirit box and nodded.
"Next room." He mumbled, Shane seeming to understand the urgency and nodding, standing up beside him. They walked down the hall in relative quiet, until Shane pulled out his phone and tilted the screen so Ryan couldn't see it. "Shane what are you doing?"
"Nothing." The man clearly lied, but Ryan ignored it and kept walking. Suddenly a very familiar tune started blasting, causing Ryan to jump again. He relaxed when he realized it was just Shane's phone. He recognized the music and shot an incredulous look at Shane.
"Are you fucking kidding me?" He said, Shane burst into laughter, dancing down the hallway to the ghostbusters theme song.
"Not at all short stack!" Ryan couldn't help but laugh at the lanky doofus dancing around.
"If there's something strange in you neighborhood,
Who you gonna call?" The song sang, and Shane supplied his own change of the next lyric."Ghoul brothers!" Now Ryan had lost it, singing along with his friend while they danced in a haunted asylum to what he supposed he could call the ghoul brothers theme.
Ryan realized he wasn't scared anymore
