Author's Note

I have very vivid, lucid dreams, and sometimes the dreams are so detailed, I could write a story based off of them. The beginning of this story was an idea that came from one of these vivid dreams, and most of the rest of the story is made up from scratch. Hopefully as you read this, it isn't obvious where the dream starts or finishes. I also know nothing about sports, but this was an important part of the dream, so please be gentle when reading the sports sections. Something I tried to focus on in this novel is shorter snapshots of important moments, rather than super long and detailed moments. With that being said, I hope you enjoy. -CrazyTurtle8

Chapter 1

Jordan Baker walked out of her apartment and looked across Central Valley University's campus. She took in a breath of fresh air, ahh, the start to another school year, she thought to herself. It was her senior year of college and things were finally going her way. She had just completed an internship at her dream job, Wave Water Healthcare, and had just bought a new car with her internship money. She walked down the sidewalk heading towards the dining hall where her friends met at everyday for lunch. Her short brown hair was tucked underneath a snapback, as was typical for her. She had a feeling this year was going to be interesting. She was finally almost done with college and just had a little bit longer to go. She hoped to get a girlfriend (as she hoped for every year) and hoped to finish strong in her classes. Jordan walked into the dining hall and saw her friends sitting around their usual spot,

"Jordan!" Austin Catcher yelled when he saw her. His short, shaggy, dirty blonde hair was a familiar sight. Kayla Armstrong saw the girl and smiled standing up as Jordan walked towards her. They embraced in a hug.

"Oh how I missed you," Kayla said squeezing the girl tight. Kayla and Jordan had met through Austin. Kayla was Austin's boyfriend, she was a musical theater performance major, but they all got along due to her love for hockey. Austin had been Jordan's best friend since they started going to Central Valley together. Austin was a senior too, and wanted to do hockey professionally and then become a coach, he was really good at both. Austin and Jordan bonded because they were the only freshman their year to be put on the ice their first game. Jordan was the only girl on the team, but it never bothered her because all of the boys on the team treated her as one of their own.

"I missed you too! How have you and Austin been?"

Kayla looked to her boyfriend and smiled, "We've been good, he's been itching to play hockey with you."

Jordan laughed and walked up to Austin. They first bumped and embraced, "How've you been man?" Jordan asked.

"I've been alright, how bout you?"

"Good, good. Have you guys seen Olivia?"

"No," Kayla replied, "but she should be coming soon. She said she had one more box to move in."

"And you didn't help her?!" Jordan asked shocked.

"She's a big girl and can handle herself!" Kayla said laughing.

"No! You guys are only sophomores! You're little babies!" Jordan said laughing as well.

Kayla smiled, "Well you know the room number, you can go see if you see her!"

Just then Olivia walked into the dining hall.

"Olivia!" Jordan yelled, embarrassing the girl. Olivia Long had always been quiet and reserved, but somehow she ended up with the two loudest hockey players at her lunch table. The year previously, Jordan had the biggest crush on the girl, but after learning how incredibly straight she was, she sucked it up and got over it. Jordan was resilient like that. She never took anything to heart, and she could never be caught crying. Austin had never seen that girl cry, not even when she took a hockey puck to face and fractured her jaw bone. Her face was purple for weeks.
