When the students came back to school, they were all talking about how they were on the news, and the incident at the USJ. “Settle down classmates and take your seats!!” Iida said, waving his arms around. Aizawa then walks in with a cast on his arm, since his elbow was disintegrated, and announces the upcoming sports festival. When the school day is over, a bunch of students huddles at the door of class 1-A to scout out the competition. A purple-haired boy named Shinso says that anyone who des well enough at the festival can replace the spot of anyone in the hero course. Bakugou then goes on to brag about how great he is, pissing the other students off.

For the next two weeks, Deku focuses his training mostly on the aliens that might be useful in the festival. During this training, he tried transforming without touching the watch like he did when he saved All Might, but he wasn’t able to do it again. One thing that he noticed was that the amount of time he could stay in form has increased, and the recharge for transforming back has decreased.

The training period was over, and now it was time for the sports festival. Todoroki declares war against Deku, saying that he’ll beat him. Deku replies “I don’t know why you’re telling me this, of course, you’re better than me, but I’m aiming for the top too.” Once all the 1st years were outside, Deku was called up to give a speech since he got 1st place in the entrance exam.

Nervously, Deku gets in front of the mic saying, “I-I just wish everyone good luck, and to do their best. Especially my classmates for overcoming the villain attack from yesterday. I know that everyone here has the potential to be a hero, and today is our time to show the world what we can do. Today, we will demonstrate what it means to go beyond, plus ultra!” All the first years and crowd applaud the speech, with Tetsutetsu commenting “At least someone from class 1-A isn’t a jerk.”

Midnight then announces that the first round will be an obstacle course, and everyone gets prepared to start. As the timer counts down, Deku prepares to select the alien that would get him through the obstacle course the most efficiently, while being flashy to get the attention of some pros that were scouting.

(Using Stinkfly)

Todoroki takes the lead, freezing the majority of the competition behind him except some 1-A students. Eventually, they reach an area where the robots from the entrance exam appear, but Todoroki freezes the biggest one and gets past them. The robot then falls, preventing the other students from getting past. Several 1-A students are able to go over the robots and get through, including Deku as Stinkfly.

The second obstacle is a gorge with single elevated parts of land scattered throughout it, connected by a tightrope. This is nothing to Stinkfly since he can easily fly over it. Todoroki is still in 1st, followed by Bakugou and Stinkfly flying close behind. In order to get ahead, Stinkfly shoots a liquid from his eye stalks on Bakugou, causing him to get stuck and fall to the ground. "I'm sorry Kacchan! I need to show the world what I'm capable of too" Deku says, flying past. Bakugou tries using his explosion, but the flammable properties of the liquid cause it to catch on fire and explode on his back. Eventually, he's able to escape but weakened from the explosion backfiring, and with some burn marks.

Todoroki and Stinkfly reach the 3rd and final obstacle, the minefield. Stinkfly shoots a pressurized stream of liquid at Todoroki out of his mouth. Todoroki gets hit with it and is temporarily stuck, but he freezes the slime off of him. Bakugou then flies quickly towards Stinkfly, but he's able to use two of his four eyes to look back and rapidly shoot more slime. "I'm not falling for that again stupid Deku!" Bakugou yells while dodging, and quickly gains speed towards him.
