So Many Options

While walking to school, Deku hears splashing behind him, and when he turned around to see who it was, it was Iida. “Hurry Midoriya! We’re going to be late!” He said. Deku started running with Iida saying “Late? But it’s only 5 minutes until the first bell.” “UA students should always be 10 minutes early,'' Iida replied. Once they got inside Midoriya asked, “Iida um-” and was cut off by Iida saying that if it was about his brother, then he shouldn’t worry.

As Deku walked into class everyone was talking about how they were recognized for being in the sports festival. “Some elementary schoolers told me ‘Don’t worry about it’” Sero complained as Froppy mocked him, making the group laugh. Deku goes to take his seat when he notices Bakugou. "Hey Kacchan-" Bakugou cut him off and said, "Shuddup Deku, just because we had a little talk doesn't mean were friends”

Before Deku could respond, Aizawa walked into class. “Aizawa-sensei, your cast is gone, that’s great,” Froppy commented. “The old lady went overboard with her treatment,” Aizawa replied. Aizawa then announces that the class will be picking hero names, and the class cheers. Aizawa shows the amount of internship offers everyone got and says that picking their hero names relates to them working with the pros for their first time. Deku got the most offers, followed by Todoroki, and then Bakugou. “It’s such a big difference between them and the rest of us!” Kaminari gasps.

“Regardless of how many offers you got, you all will be working with a pro, which is why you’ll be choosing your hero names now” Aizawa says as he gets into his sleeping bag. Midnight struts in and says that she’ll be judging each name, making sure they’re suitable for a hero. As Deku gets his whiteboard, he struggles to think of what he wants his hero name to be. He thinks back to when he announced to Bakugou that the name that he used to degrade him, Deku, was the name of a hero. Deku also wanted to incorporate his transformations into his name too. “Deku 10?” He thought to himself, “No that sounds stupid.”

Aoyama was the first person to present their hero name, “Shining Hero: I Can Not Stop Twinkling!” “It’s a sentence!” the class says shocked, but Midnight actually gives the name some tweaks, and changes it to “Can’t Stop Twinkling.” The rest of the class starts going and Deku keeps writing down the name he wants, and erases it over and over again. He remembers when he was little and wanted his hero name to be “Captain All Might.” Now he has his own “quirk” and is actually on the path to becoming a hero.

Deku stands up and shows the class his hero name. “Are you sure you want to choose that?” Kirishima asks, “You might be called that for your entire life.” “I’m sure. I didn’t like the name either until recently. Someone changed the meaning of it, and it makes me happy to be called this now. ‘Deku’ isn’t going to mean useless to me anymore, it’s going to mean ‘you can do it!’ That’s why I’m going to choose this as my hero name. The Transformation Hero: Deku.” Bakugou gives Deku an annoyed glare, and Uraraka has a happy smile as Deku goes back to sit down.

“Think carefully before you choose,” Aizawa says as he exits the class with Midnight. Everyone starts talking about what kind of internship they want to work at, as Deku feels overwhelmed by all the choices he has. As he skims the list, he’s surprised to see that he was given offers by top tier heroes like Hawks, Edgeshot and ...Endeavor. Deku knows that Endeavor only wants him to intern with him because of Heatblast, and the fact that he beat Todoroki in fire power. In general, Deku knows that no matter what internship he goes to, each hero that chose him will only focus on one or two of his transformations, so he has to choose one that he would get the most training out of.

“Which agency are you going to Midoriya?” Uraraka asks while being ignored as Deku is in deep thought while mumbling about all his options. “Ah! Sorry I was thinking about which one I should go to” Deku says, rubbing the back of his head. Froppy chimes in by saying, “You’re really thinking hard about this, why not just go to the hero that’s the highest ranking?” As the group around Deku’s desk looks at his internship paper they erupt in surprise. “Whaaaaaat? Endeavor offered to take you in!?” Mina spouts uncontrollably.

The group continues to talk about what agency they’re considering and why, while also talking about what type of benefits Deku would get from each agency. Uraraka and Deku decide to walk home together where they notice Iida left earlier than usual. They just think that he already decided what agency he’ll go to, as they leave the school. When Deku got home he saw on the news about a hero killer named Stain in Hosu who killed multiple heros and left many beyond healing, including Iida’s brother, Ingenium. Deku learned that Iida’s internship was also in Hosu, and worried for the worst.

As the students group around Aizawa in the subway station, he gives some parting advice and reiterates some rules. Deku and Uraraka stop Iida before he enters his subway car. “If you ever feel hopeless let us know. We’re friends right?” Deku says reassuringly. Iida stares blankly at the two and simply says “Yeah” and continues to walk off.

Todoroki and Deku enter the same subway car, where Shoto says “So you decided to work with my old man with me huh?” “Yeah” Deku replies. “This is going to be interesting”
