Chapter 4

Sam had brought Evelyn to Billy's house after asking him if his son Jacob there, which he wasn't. They walked up to his house and Billy was already outside waiting for Evelyn and Sam. As they approached him, Billy gave Evelyn a small smile to reassure her. Evelyn gave him a small nervous smile back and they all went inside.

"Evelyn, how are you feeling?" Billy asks as they sit down

"Very confused. Sam said you would have answers." Evelyn replied

Billy gave a small smile, "I do. Do you remember the Quilette stories I used to tell you when you were younger?"

"Yea?" Evelyn said dragging out the word a bit

"Well those stories were all true" Billie suddenly turns serious "Evelyn you are one of the most rarest shape-shifters in the supernatural world. They called your kinds The Healers. Your kind were always alone but when they chose to be apart of a pack, that pack always became powerful. They not only had the ability to heal their pack members but to also always bring them together. A pack's job is to protect the people against the cold ones. The only cold ones in this town are the Cullens, but we made a treaty with them; they are not allowed to come past the border to the reservation or bite a human being. So if you choose to accept what you have been given, Sam here is willing to accept you into his pack and train you."

Evelyn was very surprised to hear that the Cullens were what they were but it wasn't the most surprising thing that she's heard today. She wanted to protect the people and her family. She decided to do this.

Evelyn has a far off look on her face but then looks to Sam, "When can we start?"

Sam gives her an excited look and says "We can start next Monday but first order of business. Do not tell anyone about this ok? But for now let's call Charlie and tell him we found you in the woods wandering and you got lost."

Evelyn nodded and Sam got up from where he was sitting to go call Charlie.

***Time Skip***

When Charlie and Evelyn got home, Charlie gave her a big lecture about wandering in the woods and told her to never do it again. He grounded her for the rest of the week and she apologized before staying in her room for the rest of the week.

Monday was the first day Evelyn was going back to school. She was afraid that she was going to shift again but this time in the middle of the school. Bella brought her out of her thoughts by asking if she was ready. She replied with a small yes and a smile and they made their way to the truck. The car ride was silent but it also wasn't awkward.

The day passed by with everyone asking Evy is she was ok. She eventually got tired of saying the same answer over and over. She made her way outside but then she heard tires screeching and saw that a blue van had slammed into Bella's truck.

Evelyn sprinted to her " Bella!"

Evelyn saw Bella sitting on the pavement she had a dazed look on her face but she looked fine besides that. She put her arms around her sister and helped her stand

"Are you ok?" Evelyn said still searching her body just in case. Bella didn't respond and still had a dazed look on her face.

Bella was sitting on the emergency room bed while Evelyn sat with her. Suddenly their father bursts through the door and. Evelyn zoned out when he started asking Bella all these questions. After a while Carlisle Cullen came in and Kate started to feel very awkward knowing his secret. He took his light telling Bella to follow his finger.

"You know it would've been a whole lot worse of Edward wasn't there. He knocked me out of the way" Bella spoke up.

Evelyn knew right then and there that Edward had used his vampire powers to save her sister's life.

"Sounds like you were very lucky. Bella. Charlie." he nodded towards Evelyn with a smile

***Time Skip***

Evelyn was in the backyard of Sam's house.

"Sam why am I in a bikini?" she asked in confusion

"Because you're gonna learn is how to shift properly and I don't want you to rip anymore of your clothes" Sam firstly says

"Ok" Evelyn replies

"Ok focus on everything in your body: your heart, muscles, bones. Feel the wolf in you come out through everything in your body...and unleash it all" Sam said

Evelyn closed her focusing on everything Sam just said. She felt a surge of energy come out through her body and then the next thing she knows her front paws landed on the field. She looks around and realizes that she did it. She looks at Sam and he has a proud look on his face.

"That's good for today Evelyn. You did good." Sam says

For the first time she feels a purpose in herself.
