Jessie's POV
I have been in the back seat for that past 6 hours and my music was starting to irritate me. I wasn't looking forward to this little road trip to the country side of the U.S but my mother thought we needed time away from the city life. We weren't even half way there and I was ready to go back home. We had at least 20 more hours and I don't think I was going to survive that. I was getting bored of my music and listening to my siblings bicker about stupid things, that was going to make my ears bleed soon.
"hey Jess, can you pass me the diaper bag? " my sister Ruby asked.
Great, the car is going to smell like a shit now. Perfect.
I pass her the bag with out saying a word and watch as she changed my niece's diaper. As I watched my mind drifted off to the "what ifs". What if I had never lost the baby would that be me too, changing a baby's diaper in the back of the car? What if Miguel was still here, would I be with him right, instead of my family? Those what ifs, took my mind into a deeper and darker thought.
It had only been 2 weeks since the whole Salazar and Lewis thing. I haven't been around the guys and krystal. Kyle had moved the same day he graduate and he was lucky. This road trip was a good idea at the same time, I needed to get away from everyone that reminded me of them, it was the long car ride I dreaded.
"Hey, what's up?" My sister Ruby said getting my attention.
"Nada, just that my ass is numb," I deadpan.
"Yeah so is mine," she chuckled.
"Ma, when are we getting to a rest stop?" I asked.
"In another hour," she answers.
"What!? Come on! I need to take a wiz," I whined.
"Well, to bad. You're gonna have to hold it," she said.
"What about the diapers, they're going to stink up the car," Ruby said matter-of-factly.
"Ewww!" Cried My little brother and sister.
"Okay, okay," my mom said defeated.
We passed two exits and she finally decided to make a pit stop at a gas station. Once she came to a stop, I was the first one out of the truck and felt the blood rush through my body. My ass felt relieved!
"Mom can we get chips!" My little siblings hollered.
"We have food in the truck already," she answered.
The kids bowed their head and with a pout and just like that, they had my mom like pudding their hands.
"Come on let's go," she said taking hold of their hands.
I stood there, chuckling at the site and shook my head in disbelieve.
"I thought you had to pee," my mom tells me.
"Oh, yeah," I said frantically and walked right past them.
I walk quickly down the asles and right to the restroom. When I walk in, I walk right back out. The stench was horrible and I was surprised I didn't barf. I start walking down the candy asle and pick at random, I grab Ruby a few munchies and for the baby too. As I make my way to the cash register, my mom was making her way there as well.
"Why are you getting all of that?" She asked.
"Because I have the munchies," tell her with a straight face.
"Well, I don't have the money to pay for all of that," she clarifies.
"I have money," I say as I hand the guy a $20.
