Six months had passed since I first found out that I was accepted into UCLA. Immediately, I wanted to call Dana and tell him that we would be together and then remembered how much he didn’t like me. I ran and woke up my parents and told them the good news though and they congratulated me sleepily.
Shawn and I had been going out since January tenth when he asked me to be his girlfriend. Everyone at school wasn’t shocked because apparently they all thought we were going out anyway.
The rest of the boys stayed until the fifth like they were scheduled to and came over my house. I told them all what happened and they were at first upset that I did it but when I explained they understood. I also explained how Shawn was a rebound. They didn’t really like that part but there was nothing more I could do and I refused to be waiting for Dana to no longer be mad at me. Speaking of Dana, we hadn’t talked since the day we fought and he stormed out. He knows that I still talk to the guys though.
I checked up on him through them. He had been constantly hooking up with girls the entire time and not paying attention to his job. At one point, the guys considered kicking him out and I had to convince them that he would be alright.
It was hard trying to get back to my regular life once he left. There were so many memories of him left here and for the first month, nearly anything would make me break down. Mack even had to change the mixtape for the store after I would always cry listening to number ninety-nine.
I guess I was okay now though. There were no longer tears coming from my eyes, I had the best boyfriend who was also going to LA when I went because he was getting signed to some record label. The day we heard that we all, meaning Edith, Shawn and I, went out and had an amazing dinner. I was so proud that he was making his dreams come true.
I had Dana to thank for my acceptance into UCLA. Apparently he sent in a video of me dancing to one of their songs when he was teaching me the choreography over Skype one day. They used that as the basis of my audition and now I was headed there for the summer dance classes.
But enough of all the reminiscing becuase its the day of prom! Edith and I had gone shopping in New York to get our dresses, just to make sure that no one had the same as ours. My dress was black and with a haltered neck that went into a silver collar. The back of the collar connected to the lower back part of the dress and trailed slightly. Edith had picked it out for me and I fell in love. Her dress was red and all lace. The back was completely open and cut a little low while the front was completely conservative. It was the right amount of scandal and classy and so Edith. We were both sat at my dining room table, getting our makeup done. It was already four thirty and Shawn and Edith’s date were coming to get us at five.
“Finished.” The makeup lady called out to me as I broke my concentration on what could go wrong tonight. I looked up, my breath catching at the gorgeous makeup she did on my face. My eyes appeared to look wider as the silver blended into the black. It was so perfect and I was ready to cry. “No! No tears, I just finished!”
I laughed at that and nodded my head. I had dreamed about prom night since I was super little. There’s always something so magical about going to a prom and getting to have one last party with your friends before high school is over. I headed into my room, sliding my dress on and clipping the collar on before placing my heels on and grabbing my clutch. Edith and I exited the rooms at the same time and both our eyes widened.
“You look amazing!” I screamed at her, running to give her a hug. Her blonde hair was put into an updo and her dress fit perfectly.
“Are you kidding? All the guys are going to be on you tonight! I promise you that.” She said while hugging me back. We locked arms and made our way back into my room. We both agreed that it would be better to make an entrance when our dates arrived.
