"I can't believe I'm actually saying this, but I'm excited to be back to school," Emily admitted with a laugh, pulling her excessively long hair out from under her knees as she kneeled on the bed.
Of course Miss Lovesick Blabbermouth was excited to go back to school, she wouldn't shut up about how excited she was to see her boyfriend in person again. I think they spent more time talking over quarantine than they ever did before then; Emily and Calvin couldn't go six hours without a call, video chat or texting conversation (not that those ever ended).
"Speak for yourself, Mrs. Calvin Whatever-His-Last-Name-Is," I replied, rolling my eyes.
They were disgustingly lovey-dovey, but I loved how sweet and gentle he was with my sister. I loved him for her, but I hated hearing their gushy-marshmallow-sugary lovey talking. Like please, get a room for my sake.
I, on the other hand, had dreaded coming back. My social anxiety had somehow worsened with the severe lack of practice. I loved being in an isolated bubble for seven months.
"It's Waterman," Emily clarified, then tossed her heavy overgrown hair over her shoulder, "-and you're just salty because you're going to be babysitting a lot of nieces and nephews."
I gagged at what she was implying, like EWW. I did not need to know any of that!
She cackled at my misery, being the evil brat she was, to which I rolled my eyes.
