CHAPTER THIRTY-THREE: SYMPATHETIC CHARACTERS
****
Deliah's POV
She drives slowly on the vacant road and I take determined steps stopping in the middle of it. My sudden action surprised her and made her stop the car with a jolt. She parked the car onto the sidewalk under a broken streetlamp and got out slamming the door shut.
"Are you crazy?" she shouts.
"Maybe" I smile at her
The memory plays on a loop in my mind. Now I'm really fucked. If I'm right and Andreen remembers what happened that night then I can say goodbye Keanu and hello ugly orange jumpsuit.
"Andreen, are you okay? You look pale." I ask as fake-concerned as possible.
"Y-you-" her stuttering was interrupted by Keanu's entrance.
"Hey, guys. Everything alright here?" Keanu asked looking between me and Andreen.
I tried to focus on my current dilemma and not Keanu's abs which still showcased a few drops of water from his shower.
"Yeah. Right, Andreen?" I say smiling.
"Yeah, gotta go." She squeaks and with those last words, she bolts.
"Well that was strange. Are you sure she was okay?" Keanu says passing me and looking down the hall at a running Andreen.
"Actually no. She was really upset and kept going on about some family issues and boy drama. And to be honest I think she really misses Chelsea. You know what, tell Damon I'll be back later. I'm going to make sure she's okay and doesn't do anything she'll regret later. " I frown and give him a quick hug before chasing after Andreen.
Sherbert! Sherbert ! Sherbert!
I don't even know where to start searching.
She wasn't in the break room or the yard. Would she be stupid enough to go to her room? Wait, it's Andreen.
Chelsea opens their door and tells me that Andreen came by about 10 minutes ago and practically ran into her room to charge her phone. She also adds that Andreen looked kind of nervous and was crying.
"Poor thing." I sigh. " She's really been going through a lot lately. But for her own safety she really shouldn't be alone. Where exactly is her bedroom?" I ask sympathetically.
"Wow, Deliah. I mean, Andreen has always bullied and humiliated you and now you're the one trying to help her. It really says a lot about your character. Not a lot of people have a sympathetic heart." Carmen says smiling and putting her hand on my shoulder. " Oh and her room is the first one on the right. Hey, if you need anything I'll be in Damon's room. Good luck. "
" Thank you. " I smile. I'll be needing it.
When Carmen leaves I rush to Andreen's bedroom. Locked. Luckily this isn't my first rodeo so my Bobby pin opened the door in less than a minute. But I was still fudged because Andreen was gone. Her balcony windows were open so I'm guessing that was her escape route. I look around for anything that could lead me to her and spot her phone on the bed. It was only on six percent so if I go now I may still catch up on her. I zip up my hoodie and jump off the ledge of the balcony. It was only about five feet above a tiny building which had a staircase on the side.
Well atleast now I know which way she went. I run to the back of the yard and spot a pink bracelet. Luckily my inner murderer warned me not to touch it because when I poked it with a stick, I noticed it was a cheer bracelet with our school logo on it. And it was positioned infront of a fence with a hole at the bottom.
Gotcha, Andreen.
Instead of attempting to go through the miniature hole I climb over the fence because I don't have the figure of a hungry twig. After successfully getting over with no cuts I run through the alley that leads to a busier part of the city, careful not to trip on anything considering it was getting dark fast. When I finally enter a street with life I immediately spot her cheerleading uniform.
She looked terrible and was making her way to a payphone, no doubt to spill the tea. So I quickly crossed the road, dodging the busy traffic, and made my way over to her.
"Andreen!" I shouted as soon as I was by her side.
"Get away from me!" she yelled
"I'm not here to hurt you, I'm worried about you." I frowned
"I remember, Deliah. I remember everything!" Suddenly a look of realization crossed her face. "Oh my God! You killed Chelsea!" she yelled gasping. Tears were starting to form in her eyes and she backed away slowly.
"What? Me? I knew you hated me but to make such accusations, Andreen. It's just not acceptable." I sigh
"Shut Up! And stop trying to manipulate me!" She grabbed her head and shut her eyes but immediately opened them when she sensed I took a step towards her. "I said get away from me!" she backed up more and was now standing at the edge of the sidewalk.
"If you get closer I'll scream. This was what you wanted right? Me and Chelsea dead so that you can have Keanu all to yourself! News flash. He still has a girlfriend. And as soon as your ass is behind bars, he'll leave her for me. All I have to do is say the word and he's all mine. I don't need to kill anybody for him to notice me. So guess what, Lodge. It's over. You lost. Now Keanu will never be yours. You'll rot in prison so even without me or Kelsey he still wouldn't date you." she shrugs and continues laughing while I'm trying not to go full Jack The Ripper on her ass." I mean, he doesn't have the best taste, but he'll never go for a criminal. A physco, murdering, unfuckable, freak. "
Before Andreen Green's smirk could properly take place on her irritating face, it was smushed to the ground and now equivalent to a pancake. Well atleast a pancake that was run over by a Coca-Cola truck.
Yes. I know I promised I would stop killing people but Andreen had it coming. And I mean, if it wasn't meant to happen than the truck driver would have atleast stopped before flattening her.
"No!" I yell dramatically dropping to the ground. An old woman came up to me and started consoling me. "I-I didn't think she would actually... do it! Sh-she said she had problems but..." tears were streaming down my face as the lemon and ginger scented woman pulled me closer and handed me a tissue. "It's my fault she jumped!" I cry louder for the others to hear. "I didn't stop her in time." I free myself from the woman's grasp and pretend to sob by the wall. When more people were gathered and the truck driver came onto the scene, I used the tissue to dry my eyes.
Putting up my hood, I make my way through the crowd of screaming and gasping citizens and hurry back to the hotel mentally preparing myself to hear the news about the suicidal teen who jumped in front of a Coca-Cola truck and of course to support Keanu when he hears it.
But before they identify the disfigured corpse and this affects anyone, I have to focus on tonight and tonight only. Keanu atleast deserves that.
