Deliah's POV
I've never ran as fast as I did tonight. When I got home I slammed every door, making sure they were locked before running into my room.
Breathlessly, I plopped down onto the floor. I throw off my gloves and run my hands through my tangled hair.
Did I kill her?
No, of course you didn't, Delilah. She was breathing. She must have a low pain tolerance and passed out. Yeah, that's definitely it.
I keep trying to convince myself that what I did wasn't that bad, but inside I know it was. Could I pass it off as self defence? Did I leave behind any evidence? Was I too careless? A million thoughts invade my mind as I try to remember everything I did. Luckily I had my gloves on the whole time so I didn't leave any fingerprints.
The gloves. I look at the spot where I threw them a moment ago and grab them before leaving the room. I sneak into my father's room and take one of his matchboxes out of the little drawer beside his bed. Quickly sprinting to the kitchen I throw the gloves in the sink and empty about a glass of cooking oil on them. With shaking hands I take out one match and glide it across the box, lighting it.
I take a deep breath before throwing the lit match into the sink, watching all traces of tonight's events turn to ash, the smoke somehow calming me.

Panic. Chaos. That's the only way to describe our school the next morning. It was the gameday against Puma High and the headcheerleader was missing in action. To say the cheerleaders were freaking out, would be a huge understatement. Even some of the guys were nervous, because apparently the cheerleaders have a way of motivating the team. Sounds like bullshit to me honestly. I mean, they have a whole field of supporters cheering them on so what difference would one stupid cheerleader make.
During break the principle announced that our whole grade, the football team and all of the cheerleaders must immediately gather in the assembly hall. I had one or two rounds of nightmares but besides that I was surprisingly unbothered about last night's events but the sight of policemen at the entrance of the hall made my heart jump. Suddenly I feared the thought of going to jail and having no future, most importantly no future with Keanu. I don't think he has a thing for prison girls.
I politely nod my head at the policeman before entering the hall and take a seat next to Damon. Looking around I see anxious, scared and confused faces. I jump when someone lightly taps me on my shoulder from behind. "Someone's jumpy" Keanu says smiling as he takes the seat directly behind me.
I try to focus on what our principle is saying and not the heavy stare coming from behind me. It's only when the cop announced that Andreen was hospitalized last night that we actually started to focus. I subtly look over my shoulder to see his reaction. He is wide-eyed and looks shocked and partially confused. I'm not even sure if he knows what to feel, I mean, this happened minutes after she left his house.
"We won't go too much into the gruesome details, but all we can say is she's safe. We still don't know what the motive for the attack was but we have her under our surveillance just in case. The doctor said that she is currently in a coma and it is unsure when or if she will wake up. Thank you. " the cop bows his head and steps off the stage. The principle, being the football freak that he is, states that the game will go forth. He then excuses himself and gives us the day off but orders everyone to stay for the game. I roll my eyes at his last statement. Typical.
