The people of color
needs to stand bravely together
and know that they all matter
Not because of being different
but because of having warriors
of ancestors
I'm just a young black girl
trying to escape poverty's cell
And the feeling of being inferior
while climbing the stairs
closer to being superior
I'm not trying to rewrite history,
I'm just trying to create my own story.
My background is what built me
up and it's something
that I'd never say sorry for
but my future is yet to come
and that's something
I shall stay worrying for
The change is yet to come
and the destination lies
not only in our minds
but also our in hands
